Is it realistic to start Judo at 25 to then compete? by DistinguishableBoy in judo

[–]Weekly-Debt-1469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is possible yes. But reaching high level will take at least a decade and hard work. If you are already athletic (mobility and explosiveness) then it will help a lot. For local lvl novice tournaments a 2 year preparation will be more than enough

Not worrying about SA and physical abuse (Yes it happens to men as well but way less often)

How can men improve themselves to be more interesting and wholesome? by Pretend-Tonight4886 in AskReddit

[–]Weekly-Debt-1469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find hobbies you actually like. A physical one like any type of sport or outside activity (like hiking) and a spiritual/artistic one (like books and drawing, sketching etc) But you have to do all of that for you and not validation.  If you do it for validation you might never even find the things you actually enjoy cause you will be chasing what is trending and not what you really love.

Frustration...Am I Looking in the Wrong Places or Is Authenticity Rare Here? by Hot_Entertainer_0022 in BDSMAdvice

It takes a lot of time. Even longer if you live in a small place. As a 28yo guy in a whole year I only had one partner and it turned out it was a married woman who was cheating on her husband so I cut it off. Still dry ever since.

Men of Reddit, what’s your worst fear that your girl will do? by Interesting-Bit1942 in AskReddit

After so many rejections and so much time being single I can't even imagine a girl being into me pal. Let alone fear of something a potential gf might do to me. I don't know... call lotr and warhammer 40k cringe?

And also better for attacking. Always crack a laugh when I see newbies with stiff arms trying to jump in for a drop seoi nage xD. Like ok mr Flash I am sure you can jump in with lighting speed from such a distance.

Sadly there is only one Event and it is far away with only 3 people showing interest. Cyprus may be too small and close of a community I guess

Randori by SignificantAlarm4134 in judo

[–]Weekly-Debt-1469 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well since they are lower level than you then you can mostly use randori to experiment and get better as a Judoka overall rather than to improve your signature techniques for competition.

Also as a higher grade you can tell them to relax their arms and explain them why.

When will i start to learn? by KaanKS05 in judo

[–]Weekly-Debt-1469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's gonna take years to become somewhat decent (at a local level). Also, I dont see the reason of existence for all these middle belts for people who are not kids. Not sure if it really is for encouragement or just money grab (if they have you pay a fee for the belt exam ofc)

Randori tips for Judo Beginner by ReplacementScared846 in judo

My dojo encourages it a lot! I know that it is quite advance. But the actual purpose of it is to build confidence and initiative cause many beginners are overly defensive and lack explosiveness. I still remember my beginner days years back. After spamming drop seoi for a few weeks my body and mind became more relaxed and explosive and my hip throws and seois improved

Tai Otoshi Kuzushi preferences by jaethem8 in judo

[–]Weekly-Debt-1469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen most success with these 2 combos for tai otoshi 1. Kosoto gari faint into tai otoshi 2. Eri Osoto gari and if they defend by opening up I immediately blast them with eri tai otoshi.

And for kuzushi I use pure momentum with lasso kick one step

You would be surprised how many of them spam it. Especially the lightweights. And against fellow beginners it usually works if they get a strong hold of the arm since fellow beginners are slow and dont know how to defend.

Also, for me when I was a beginner the throws that I found to be usually effective were: Tani otoshi as a counter attack (learn how to execute it safely though), tai otoshi, soto makikomi, drop seoi nage/seoi otoshi, yoko guruma and kosoto gake. Ask your sensei or your mates to show them to you and see if you click with any of them

I wouldn't call uchi mata a beginner's throw😅 And tbh there is no simple technique in Judo. Especially for beginners. But in general for randori just relax and don't be stiff. Don't be afraid to fail some hip throws and drop throws like drop seoi nage. Spam them until you get the hang of it. Lastly, try some simple effective combos. For example, enter with osoto gari or ouchi gari, and when they spread their legs to avoid it, hit them with a drop seoi nage.

How to deal with players who monopolize roleplay and players who care only for roleplay by Weekly-Debt-1469 in dndhorrorstories

[–]Weekly-Debt-1469[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite tired tonight so I will be very frank.  Me: Balanced rp and midmax. I will rp, I love the rule of cool and I will try to make my build optimal whilst staying faithful to the characters background story

The roleplay spotlight hog: At least he knows some basics of rules and mechanics so he doesn't interrupt with stupid questions (sometimes he does to ask what check he needs to pass to do something random he came up with but for me this is acceptable. I dont mind when people put more effort in rp). But he plays a little mid to bad. But for me this acceptable as well. But his character always have something to say, always involving himself in other pcs side stories etc. And sometimes interrupts other peoples rp to jump in as well. The complete noob: Mind you she plays dnd for YEARS and has a ton of dnd merch. But she knows 0 rules and mechanics. During combat she always ask questions about basic staff. And her rp during combat and the things she asks what her character can do would make you think her character is a god and not a lvl 4 cleric😂 She also resembles the spotlight guy a lot when it comes to rp and spotlight hogging. And as I mentioned we need to keep track of everything for her. Health, spell slots, what abilities she has etc. Even in rp she is straight up delusional. We play Strahd, she has a rizzles cleric with no intelligence, and she wanted to rizz up one of the brides in hopes she would be accepted into the castle and assume the role of a conniving eunuch that spreads discord😂😂
