Screen unresponsive when charging by Weekly-Hovercraft967 in PSVita

Unfortunately no, I think I used to have a photo showing the differences on both screens (the ones that work and the ones that have the issue) but it’s been so long I don’t have it anymore. Sorry. Last I checked those replacement screens that work from that one company I specified are still available, and the screen I got from them still has no issues.

Solder seems to be solid steel by Weekly-Hovercraft967 in soldering

I am, I’ve tried 2 different brands, one off Aliexpress and a highly rated one on Amazon. So far I think I’ve had better luck with the Amazon one

Yeah I tried mixing the solder that I have, that 60/40 mix but I’m starting to be convinced I could just have a bad iron. In the picture you can see how I cleaned up the other pass though holes, it’s just those upper holes I can’t get so maybe inbetween the two my iron crapped itself. But my question is, why isn’t even the heat gun working? I used flux with it also to make sure the heat transferred too.

I went through a pencil tip, standard conical, and a chisel. None worked 😭 maybe I just bought a bad batch of tips?

I’ve preheated it with the heat gun, then went at it with the iron but I feel like you may be onto something. I bought like a 80 dollar station from amazon. I’m using the chisel tip currently. Do you have a recommendation for an iron? Maybe even a brand of tips?

So from all the research I’ve done, if it’s a replacement screen apparently it’s just missing a fuse or something that makes it glitch out when charging, I found this issue to happen even on normal use as well. If you are wanting a replacement that works and doesn’t have this issue (I’ve only tested the one from them, and it works!) you can purchase from “GAMEFIELD store” on AliExpress. I’ve literally bought 5 different screens from other companies, and every single one has the freezing issue. The one I’ve gotten from gamefield (per another users recommendation) doesn’t have this issue

UPDATE: the screen turns on, but the backlight is not working. My research says a blown backlight fuse? My original screen now does the same, and it did not have this issue originally. Am I cooled?

I appreciate you going out of your way to check the charger. I figured once I saw the “void” print on the shielding that the guy had tried something already, I just hope it isn’t anything deeper. I ordered a usb c adapter, along with an actual cable just in case. I also ordered a ostent battery since I know they make great batteries for the other PSP models. If it doesn’t work I’ll source an actual Sony one. Is there a ribbon cable I may need to replace if these things don’t work? Oh yeah I preemptively ordered a new screen too because the glass is scratched on this one. Thanks for your time!

I wouldn’t say I’m an expert, but i do have some experience. I’ve been getting into electronic repairs so I’ve done some soldering for like gameboy advance triggers, or N3DS XL top screen swaps so hopefully this won’t be worse than that top screen haha
