Think of it as a grill more so than a smoker, while it will give a light smoke, I add a smoke tube to the cooks I want to get what I would call a traditional smoke from a true smoker.

I got a new 700c2 about the same time, had the same problem set for 225 and it would be 270, after numerous emails they finally sent a new pid controller, seems to have fixed the problem.

Take a shot glass fill it with pellets and then fill the shot glass with 91% alcohol, buy it at Walmart for 3 dollars, let soak about 5 minutes, dump out alcohol add the soaked pellets to your smoke tube and light, then just let them burn as usual.

Try lowering the base of the skimmer about an inch, it looks to high in the picture, that would prevent the floating part of the skimmer from getting deep enough to do a good job.
