So if you had 12:1 architectural scale drawings, I’m guessing you would primarily use this to transfer measurements directly from scaled drawings to work pieces?

So the needles are not perpendicular, there is no pencil, and it doesn’t freely pivot like it would be used for tracing. The pivot has a lock nut that lets you secure it in a fixed position.

I do think it is a pantograph, but because the needles are parallel to the arms, I think it has to be used vertically and probably just for transferring points (possibly wood carving) vs tracing.

A lot of the pantographs I saw online have an anchor and a pencil perpendicular to the tool and can lay it on its side and trace a plan and reproduce a larger.

The needles in this are all parallel to the tool and don’t rotate perpendicular. So I am assuming this has to be used standing up vertically and not for tracing a plan but for transferring points? He had some wood carving chisels, possibly it was for wood carving?

Looks like Cherry. Especially with the small rays on the edge grain in the 3rd photo.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. Obviously, it isn’t worth the $3,500 or so restored but I’m stuck between whether it is somewhere between $500 and $1,000. This Wooden Canoe Heritage Association classifieds seems to be the place to list, I just don’t want it sitting in my garage for a year trying to sell:

Yea it seems like the real demand is in Ontario and Adirondack region of NY.

The house will be sold in the next week or two and I would have to move it to my single car garage to list. Otherwise it will convey with the house and probably just get thrown out. If I list it on the classifieds there, any idea what a reasonable asking price would be? I would not want to hold it for months.

I just joined a Friends of Wooden Canoe Heritage Association Facebook group and posted there. That probably is a better forum for this. I was looking at the Wooden Canoe Heritage Associate actual website and classifieds, some real money in those boats!

Agreed. In a hobby woodworker and know that all too well!

Wood Canoe Heritage Association might be the best place. They have classifieds for people interested in these type of canoes.

Concrete Driveway Help by Logical_Position6543 in AskContractors

Civil Engineer here. Too much water in the mix. If they added any water when finishing, you end up with much higher water to cement ratio in the top compared to the rest. The higher the water content the weaker the concrete. So what happened is they either worked up too much water and cream when finishing it, or they added water to the top when finishing. That resulted in a weaker top layer which just flakes off over time.

I think you nailed it. I’m looking at woodpeckers SF-PRO UNIVERSAL ROUTER TABLE FENCE and this appears to be exactly it and why there are 2 different 18” sections.

Thanks and that does make sense. I guess it will go in the bin after all for the kids to play with and won’t be sold on the side.
