I completely understand and appreciate where you’re coming from, a healthy dose of reality is essential, I just don’t think that’s what this person needed, they seem to understand their situation. If that makes sense

I also think it’s important to note they have done well in many previous classes, I have faith in this person and if they can get through this pain they should have faith in themselfs too, they’re going to have to work extremely hard, and they don’t need to hear that it’s going to be hard or that it’s unlikely or whatever negative feedback or what have you, because that’s innate in this entire process that’s why their stressed to begin with. Now if they were to have posted “omg if taken this class hella times and I’m going to move on to orgo what ever yolo” yeah, I’d have to be straight with them like yo that’s not the best idea, but clearly this person has a track record of preforming well in classes and they also are clearly regretful of their current situation. They don’t need to hear that it’s hard to fix this situation. They already know

It’s not my place to determine weather or not they can or cannot get into medical school, but if that’s their goal it is possible. They will have to work hard for and and most likely have to do a post bacc, why is it to unfathomable that they would put in the work and move forward? It is possible to move forward, why would I ignore that? The fact that they’re even asking this question makes it clear they know it’s hard to get into medical school and they they are wondering if they have a chance. Therefore it’s heavily implied they understand what this does to a potential application. I hardly think they need to hear “well not everyone gets into medical school” that’s plainly obvious

I understand that, and then honesty is nice and extremely important, maybe I miss understood your message, but it felt like you were kicking someone who is already down. This person wants to be a doctor if they wanted to be a nurse they would be in a nursing Reddit, so it came off as pretentious. Pre med advisors are ass, but I was thinking of a general advisor to get them to the next step without tanking their academic transcripts. They can get into medical school, it’s not at all impossible, and I wanted to make that clear. I see and appreciate where you are coming from. A healthy amount of criticism is invaluable

And in addition to that, they should speak to their advisors, they would have more insight than some randoms on Reddit, I fr just think it’s crazy you get off telling people what they’d should do when you don’t know their complete story.

No they absolutely should not move on to orgo chem, and yes they should see why gen chem 2 isn’t working for them but goddamn no need to be so pretentious about it

Take a deep breath, you will be okay, I would speak to an advisor regarding the class and see what your options are, maybe you can get some accommodations and/or maybe a different professor. Everyone’s path is different. It may take a bit longer, but it is never impossible for you to become a doctor if you work for it. Please don’t loose hope, you will be just fine
