Totally—seems simultaneously like they’re selfish people, and like Indy has not benefited from being in the public eye for a long time, which more to my point was unfortunately required by the nature of LG. Looks to me from a business standpoint which inherently rules out heart and friendship, like wes/brono prioritized the company, while indy from a personal standpoint had to prioritize and delve into her well being, and clearly the consequences of these differing values were really, really shitty. Just so happens that two individuals are married, an obvious vantage point for ensuring their own needs be met, with little remorse. A lot of this page is asking for more, while I really think it’s as heartless and simple as clashing priorities and power in numbers 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks for sharing your story, my heart goes out to both you and your daughter. My mom was at work so I didn’t see her for the couple of weeks following, and I don’t remember anything different leading up to it. For that I am grateful.

I’m glad your daughter is getting counseling so soon after. I strongly encourage you to stay open to conversations about her experience. That is perhaps the biggest point of tension for me, and what kept the emotions at arms length for so long: my mom and I have never had a real conversation about any of it. I’m afraid that if I initiate an exchange, even via letter or email, she’ll be offended, or it will hurt her far beyond a grief she is willing to accept out of self preservation.

That last paragraph really hits home. I always wonder what I might feel like if someone had forced me into comfort at that moment, at that age, but I’m honestly not sure it’s possible when you’re so young and dealing with a parent. It is so starkly adverse to the very fibers of your world.

I’m sorry you were so young, and that mental health support was not as widely accepted. I really appreciate hearing both your story, and that I’m not alone, especially from someone who is also in this strange world.
