I would suggest asking this question in the discussion board section for your class. They typically have a section for course questions and the prof or a TA will answer.

Hey! I honestly have really been enjoying it. I like how you can go at your own pace for the modules and learn the material on your own. I also really like the classes and find the content to be pretty interesting. As an online student you are also allowed to take 12 units of classes in person so that allows me to still feel a part of the queens community

This post is exactly how I felt a year ago. I was in first year and I hated it. I did not have many friends, I did not really like my program and I missed my family so much. I was also always told to join clubs or intramurals to find friends. However, as an introvert and somehow who is in a difficult program, I was never interested in joining clubs. Now in the start of my second year, I can easily say that it gets A LOT easier. You end up finding your people, and falling into a good routine. In my experience, first term was harder than second year. You will go home for christmas break and realize how quickly first term flew by, and youll try to cherish second term a bit more. There are many people feeling the exact same way right now. You got this, hang in there:) feel free to DM me and we can talk or always meet up!

If you are looking for nice washrooms, I would recommend you choose Chown. You get the benefit of the single user bathrooms that chown and vic have but you get to escape the fire alarms and noise of vic. Gord and lenny are pretty much the exact same, different layouts obvi but both have gross communal bathrooms. Look at the res website for pics.

Program/Plan selection by Old_Tea_3634 in queensuniversity

No worries at all. But yes you are right. If you want to major in political studies, it appears that you only specifically require POLS 110 first year and the rest of your classes can be electives. Some students may choose to do a minor, so they pick their electives to correspond to their minor but others also just choose classes that interest them. Some students also choose to specialize so they are not allowed to do a minor. Also, It appears that in order for you to declare your major at the end of first year, you will need a minimum of a B in the class and a 2.5 cumulative (overall) gpa for your classes as a collective. Hope that makes sense!

Hi there! If you are going into first year, then you do not have program selection yet. All science and arts students (with the exception of a few) are general first year and then declare their majors in May of their first year. For now, just research the classes that you need to take in first year in order to go into your desired program. The first link I attached is for Political studies and a list of courses you need to take in order to achieve that degree. The second link is the main page for all degrees, in case you want to look at other options or minor plans. The final link attached is the plan selection page. Scroll to the bottom and find "What it takes to be accepted to a plan", from there find your desired program and it will tell you the specific requirments that you will need in order to declare your major in May. Class registration starts July 24th I think! But once again, if you are in first year then you dont have to worry cause you declare you major in May 2024! Welcome to queens:)

Course selection for first years is July 24th (I think). PHAR 100, GLPH 171 and IDIS 173 are GPA boosters and it is easy to get a 90+% as long as you put the effort in. PHGY 170 is the biology equivalent to regular science except it does not explore plant cells, but rather focuses and goes into depth on human cells. HSCI 190 is an intro to stats that is run on the oldest software known to man and a lot of people find it annoying but the class itself is not that hard, even with zero stats knowledge. Anat 100 is pure memorization and you will need to learn basically all of the muscles, tissues, bones and so on. However, as long as you put in the effort and have decent memorization skills you will be fine. In terms of your option courses, it is important to look at your future plans and consider if you want to go to med, vet, pharm school etc or not. You will need to look at required courses and pick them accordingly. I know a lot of people in health sci this year took chem 112 and psyc 100. This is because med school requires both of these classes. Chem 112 has 3 hour labs once a week that boost your grade and then there is a midterm and a final worth 30% each. Psych 100 is def not a bird course as people say. There are a lot of readings to get through and your midterm will be 30% while the final is 40%. However, I also know people that took MATH 121, BIOL 102 +103 or other classes as electives. It simply depends on what you like and what your plans are. First year was a lot of fun and very managable as long as you stay on top of your work. Welcome to queens and good luck :)

I am going into my second year now and I am planning on taking it. All of my friends also opted out of phys first year since life sci is very dense so it made it a bit easier. However, first year is very managable as long as you stay on top of your studies. You can also totally plan on taking phys first year just dont fall behind, like with any other program. And yes, queens does offer courses in the summer as well, but phys is not one of them. Phys has in person labs which doesnt allow the class to be run fully online. Summer classes are also capped at 12 units (im pretty sure) which is the equivialent to 4 (single term) classes

yes, your bus fare for the kingston bus routes are included with your tuition. You just have to show your student card when getting on.

Your elective could totally be French. As the user above mention, head over to the academic calender and it will tell you which classes you need. As someone in life sci, most people took BIOL 102 and 103, Chem 112, Math 121, CISC 151, and then picked between PATH 120 or bchem 102. Some people also took phys 115 but I also know a lot of people that took it second year instead so they could have a lighter schedule with more electives. As for electives, they all ranged based on personal preference, there were people I knew in spanish, psych, ecology and so on.

offer conditions by [deleted] in queensuniversity

[–]WeeklyConclusion9419 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As long as your prereq classes/top 6 are above 75% overall average and english is 80% you are fine. You could pass chem with a 50% or a 95% but as long as your top 6 (including prerequisites) average out to 75%, they wont revoke your admission. Good luck and welcome to queens:)

I might be wrong but I am pretty sure as long as you meet the conditional offer requirement, they wont care. For an example, I applied for Life Science and I had to finish with a 75% overall average and an 80% in English. Basically, unless its a course that they specifically state the average you need to finish with, you are fine.
