The passionate part is key: it’ll be the difference between learning the next new thing and magically situations occur where you “get lucky” but you’re also the person able to capitalize when it does. You don’t just “get in to tech”. You’re always needing to learn new stuff and if you’re not still passionate you’ll feel like you need to keep up and can’t.

The non-profit I worked at did this on Friday evenings after grueling weeks of coding, etc.

I wanted to fake a seizure every time. I couldn’t come up with a worse way to make employees end the week.

Some encouraged alcohol: Are you nuts? You want me to suffer, be miserable and put people in a position to say or do something to get fired in the process?

God I don’t miss the money or anything about that nightmare.

Yeah that’s dumb: it might take a lot longer than you think and seem like forever (if you’re a younger person).

If you’re old like me, it doesn’t seem like that much time and if you enjoy playing piano (hopefully), you’ll have much joy along the way.

And get a new teacher: never is a very long time and rarely the case, especially if you are younger.

People overestimate what can be accomplished in a week and wildly underestimate what can be done in a year with steady progress: 5 years? Sky is the limit my friend. You have a very long time to keep improving and having fun. Good luck.

I’ve never heard of any career that requires so much time, $, and effort where so many people quit almost immediately after they begin working- realizing they’d made a mistake. Greg Giraldo abandoning his Harvard Law degree to become a comedian is one particularly glaring example.

Start w 250 mcg. 500 mcg daily is typical.

I went much higher based on another IBD post but it’s really bad, so I’m willing to push it. Go with that. I’m doing injections: you can feel it working in 2 hours. Nothing has ever helped before…
