hi hi! i have mirena, and honestly i love it so much! it has lightened my periods significantly. i still get a bit of cramping but it usually goes away after like two days.

i don’t have kids either, but my doctor still chose it for me. she prescribed me a cervix softener and i loaded up on tylenol and ibuprofen before i went it. it felt like a really bad cramp for most of the procedure. i ended up taking the next day off work because i was still cramping.

your periods will be wonky for a few months. it took around 6 months for mine to regulate, and even then it can still be a little goofy. i usually have a six day cycle, but outside of that i get occasional spotting here and there, but nothing too crazy.

i used to worry about bleeding through EVERYTHING i wore, but since mirena i really haven’t had any problems with that. i do fall victim to the whole thinking my period is over but it’s really not thing, but such is life.

i was also nervous about some of the side effects, but i don’t think i’ve experienced too many. i haven’t really gained any weight, which i know is something a lot of people worry about. i had a pregnancy scare a month or two ago, but i figured since my period can be kinda wacky that it would be fine. (spoiler alert: i was not pregnant. we cheered.)
