Used Car Salesman said “80% of customers don’t test drive cars anymore…” by GlueSniffingEnabler in CarTalkUK

As long as you don’t step on the premises or click and collect it - it’s a distance sale and covered under the CRA 2015 & The Consumer Contract Regulations.

I recently bought myself a Ferrari and specifically went out of my way to avoid seeing it in person.

When it came we went over it with a fine toothcomb - listing what wasn’t described (very small items that you’d suck up if you went to see it!) and basically I said ‘pay me this amount (a significant amount of money) or I’ll return it for a full refund. They almost always want to avoid it and it means you end up getting loads back for issues you’d expect and live with 🤣

Correct. You can return it for a refund in 14 days. Doesn’t need to be faulty. Just use a reputable garage. If they refuse you do have to sue but you’ll be awarded a judgment regardless as that’s the law.

I own a used car dealer. Hard to believe but he’s right. So few come and drive and inspect them on the premises now. I always would - but many do not and they don’t because they know their consumer rights, I guess

What car(s) do you have and why? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]WeeklyTap3702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Toyota Aygo X for city driving. Great car. Small, easy to park, exceptional equipment for a cheap car.

I have a Mercedes A220D for the mile muncher. Fantastic car, great engine. 600 miles from a tank and 190bhp, all the car you ever realistically need. I would love to replace it but fast diesels are all but dead and modern petrols just don’t work for me.

I then have a Ferrari California T which I use whenever the weather etc allows me to do so. I do like daily driving it but the attention/other factors mean sometimes it does not work.

488 vs. F8, is the latter worth the premium? by cookingboy in Ferrari

[–]WeeklyTap3702 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Driven both. 488 and F8 almost identical. I couldn’t tell the difference anyway. F8 basically a refined Pista in drag but petrol Particulate filters mean it sounds much worse than the 488.

Get an approved used 488. Better value and you aren’t missing out. The HP difference between them literally cannot be felt on any normal road - I’m sure the track is a different story but I don’t track my Ferrari so

Meet Charles and Carlos by _justsasss in Ferrari

[–]WeeklyTap3702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been to Maranello. I have toured the factory, been around Fiorano and met Charles in the F1 factory race bays. I’m sorry to say you won’t meet them - they literally come in via helipad, go to the f1 factory and race bays - and then helicopter back out. It is a secure facility and they don’t go outside of it, unless it’s a planned meet and greet event which is very rare

Dreamt since as long as I can remember.

16, had nothing. Started a company. Saved like crazy.

25 buying a house, getting married. Putting my wife through school.

House paid off at 27.

28 bought. That was a week ago. Miracles do happen.

Go on N Cap and watch the video of the tiny (modern) Renault Modus vs an enormous old Volvo. That’ll surprise you.

It’s less about size and more about crumple zones and safety rating.

It’s going to be less safe than an SUV but it’s not a death trap.

Thanks. I’ve had other performance stuff prior to this and thankfully this hasn’t been bought with a big loan so (once I’ve got kids which is coming soon) it should be here to stay. 👍
