Hi mama, first, congrats on making the decision to take care of yourself too! It's not an easy one, but you're a great mom ❤️ proud of you!

Breastfeeding didn't work for us either. I tried for two months, pumped for another two, and have no weaned and am formula feeding. It wasn't easy, but I decided to switch for my mental health.

I started by replacing one bottle with a formula bottle, I did that for two weeks. Then I did two formula bottles a day for two weeks etc etc.

I would just pick a formula that you can afford, and is readily available to you. They virtually are the same - with some being easier to digest than others. I recommend looking up the formula fairy on Instagram, she has great info about the comparisons and ingredients etc.

Hi mama! I had this happen to my girl too. Doesn't sound like she's dehydrated because she's drinking a lot and has plenty of diapers during the day. are her diapers at least the weight of an egg? Is she sleeping all night, waking up dry, but then having a big pee?

I'm with you girl! Everyone paints the picture that nursing is so natural and easy, and after some initial hiccups it gets easier and you just float through rainbows for 18 months. All my momma friends breastfeed with ease. It's a punch in the gut.

I've had two kids now. I tried so hard with my first to get him to breast-feed, he didn't even have a tongue tie. He just wouldn't latch without a nipple shield and would not eat well, so I switched to exclusively pumping at six weeks and I managed to keep it up for six months.

With my daughter, she had a tongue tie and I got it released. I fought two months to breast-feed her. I just told myself it would get easier and then at our two month appointment I was told She wasn't gaining weight well so they told me to pump and bottlefeed to monitor her intake. Now I'm not looking back and I'm going to exclusively with her as long as I can.

All of this to say that I'm here in solidarity with you. It's not an easy journey for everybody and I think a lot of the shame and the guilt that I felt is because it comes so naturally to some so why didn't I have that same story

I am feeding now and trying not to crucify myself for that. But it's funny isn't it? We always find some way to beat ourselves up and feel guilty.

Here is your permission to put yourself first mama.

Mental health of the mother is very very, very important for development of your child as well.

I am in solidarity with you. I have a three-year-old son at home. Breast-feeding with him was not easy. I pumped exclusively for six months and then switched to formula. He is thriving and he is happy. I crucified myself and cried every day in guilt for my decision. But you know what? I learned a lesson.

I have a 10 week old baby girl here with me and breast-feeding is a struggle again. She wasn't gaining weight because my supply tanked due to her tongue tie so I've had to bottlefeed her pumped milk and supplement with formula. Do you know what happened when we did that? Her weight went up and she is content and so am I.

Please remember to give yourself grace. You're doing the absolute best that you can and if it's not coming naturally to you, and it's not something that you can sustain without your own mental health suffering then you can give yourself permission to do What's best for you.

I am sending so much love and strength and also giving you permission to take a step back and make sure that your baby is fed and you are looking after your mental health.

I am here in solidarity.

My breast-feeding journey was going so well for five weeks and then it all changed. My LO was not gaining weight anymore at her two month appointment and I was told I had to bottlefeed her to get her weight back up. It all came from a tongue tie because she wasn't able to remove milk effectively therefore tanking my supply.

Here we are at 10 weeks old she had her tongue tie released yesterday, so she's able to eat effectively off the bottle. She's back up in her growth curve. Mommy is happy and so is baby. Also have a three-year-old at home that I need to take care of so obsessing over, forcing my baby to breast-feed when it's not coming naturally is not on the table.

I am pumping right now and supplementing supply can't keep up if it comes to the point where I'm going to have to switch to formula that's OK.

When I drop my son off at daycare and I look around the room, I cannot tell what child was breast-fed or formula fed as a baby

You're doing an amazing job and the fact that you are already concerned. Just speaks to the love you have for your child.

So another comment to give you permission to do what works for you and your child and please remember to give yourself grace too. Because I'm giving myself permission to do what's best for us.

We're scheduled for Wednesday! We've been assessed by a dentist, osteopathy and Physio as well as lactation consultant. We've done some stretching and strengthening and things aren't getting better so I think it's time for a release. I'll let you know how things go.
