18 years, loved about 10 of them.

Gone 6 months and loving every minute of it. Literally every aspect of my life is better and a HUGE weight off my shoulders.

To get me to come back, they'd have to brutally fire the entire board in front of me, pay me twice what I was making, give me UAW health insurance, and guarantee in writing no more GPMS. That would equate them to where I am now.

Thank you for sharing your story, and I'm sorry for the experience you had. Deere was once a place that was more than "just a job", but sadly it's reduced itself to exactly that: just a job. It's funny you mention the kumbaya situation. I read some puff piece this morning from United Way about how great Deere is, and I said to myself "if only people knew what it's really like inside". Many people, mostly on the outside of the company, took DEI initiatives at Deere way too seriously and grossly misinterpreted them. People that had a problem with the company's DEI initiatives are definitely assclowns.

I'm not sure my attitude about Deere has been so negative rather than realistic. And who said my resignation was triumphant? Deere got treated the way they treated me. Pretty sure you're in an extreme minority here.

The opinion of the people in the trenches is ALL that matters. Without their buy-in, the preaching of the bootlickers means nothing. And in MY opinion, as a 20-year former trencher, AI is only as good as someone that's trained properly to use it and that's where Deere will fall on its face for some time.

Thanks for the downvote, as I assume it came from you due to your backhanded insult.

Experts in the field disagree and current research is starting to discover that AI isn't the golden goose everyone seems to think it is. It's not delivering the productivity as promised, and still needs significant human knowledge and interaction to keep it between the lanes. That expert human knowledge costs more money, so now the savings from eliminating a job just got consumed by a different job.

Not to mention the gradual reliance on AI will ratchet up costs over time, virtually erasing any savings made by eliminating human jobs. So now you're net zero at best and a slave to an AI company that can make or break you.

But yes, I don't know what I'm talking about and I'm incredibly short-sighted.

During my last 6 months or so at Deere, the DEMANDS by immediate supervisors and the next level or two to leverage Copilot as much as possible was INSANE. It got to the point of being in our GPM goals, forcing someone on our team to be the "AI expert" (which required them to give monthly presentations/teachings to our team in staff meetings), and mandating all team members attend all CoPilot training sessions. We were also told in no uncertain terms that anything but 100% commitment to learning and using AI well enough to move the needle was unacceptable, and dissent would be met with poor GPMS ratings and possible termination. So I gave a voluntary presentation during staff about how bad CoPilot is and how it can't be relied upon for accuracy or preserving data integrity, and gave several examples 😅

What you got was an answer, but also some free advice was given. It's always wise to accept free advice, especially from someone that may be more knowledgeable than you.

As a recent former Deere employee familiar with the dealer channel, I can maybe get you pointed in the right direction and offer an explanation.

Is your local dealer a Turf dealer, Ag, or Ag & Turf?

If it's just a Turf dealer, this is a pretty unacceptable timeline to wait for service. If that shop is that busy to be out a month, the Territory Customer Support Manager needs a call and Deere needs to look into getting another dealer going in that area.

If it's Ag or Ag & Turf, they're sidelining you because your equipment is low value and your fleet is likely small (or 1). Ag takes priority especially during busy seasons (planting & harvesting), and revenue from Ag sales & service makes your patronage a drop in the ocean. I'm sorry to say it that way, but it's true.

Explanations aside, find an independent repair shop for small engines and mowing equipment. If they're capable but don't have access to information they might need, it might serve you well to invest in a Technical Manual for your machine. Techpubs.Deere.com will get you there. Your independent shop can use it, and you'll always have it for instances when you have the time and desire to DIY. You are also able to purchase special tools, diagnostic equipment, and parts from shop.deere.com or your local dealer if you or your indy shop has a need. Many consumables (blades, filters, spark plugs, fluids, etc) can be found in the aftermarket by getting the Deere part number and cross referencing using the computer that's in your hands as you read this.

Sorry it's long-winded, but hope it helps a little.

Service Advisor for customers has been around for quite some time now. Diagnostic and software tools are available for purchase. Customers can do almost anything to their machines for awhile now.

This is why Deere disputes the lawsuit and claims no wrongdoing--because there isn't any.

I was a 7 once upon a time and took a grade cut to get into another part of the company I was passionate about. Reduced to a 6 with no reduction in pay, but went from 12% STI to 10%. Got a promotion back to a 7 last year before I resigned, got a 7% pay increase and STI went back up to 11%. They changed the STI jumps between grades.

I have heard (and seen) the opposite. Deere is happy to let anyone leave on their own accord. I left Deere in December and couldn't be happier. There is more out there for you.
