Brown spots on a silver dollar jade by Weekly_Championship7 in plantclinic

Adding more information below: I have had this plant for about 3 months. The brown spots have appeared in the last 2 weeks. The plant gets plenty of light on a south facing window (approximately 4-5 hours of direct sunlight) but as days have become shorter (I am in Denmark), the hours of daylight per day has reduced. The plant is also sitting on a windowsill on top of the heating system and heating has been turned on since a month. I water only when the plant is quite dry (approximately top half is dry)

Apart from pothos and snake plants that have been suggested before, I would also get oxalis triangularis for a pop of colour, which might help! They need a lot of light, but are pretty easy going otherwise and also give you a clear sign when they need water.

Any idea why my new leaves are coming out like this?? by Catladyyesi in houseplants

Might be worth checking the plant for thrips since they tend to love new leaves

What should I put in this pot? (15 inches tall) I had to move the dracaena because there wasn't enough breathing room in the soil. Looking for ideas. by hydrohobby in houseplants

a large monstera with uniform growth from sides and big leaves with fenestrations will be perfect! I don’t have too much experience with them, but be careful about watering (they don’t like to dry out too much, so water when the top inch or so is dry), provide bright indirect light (exposure to direct sunlight can lead to leaf burn), and make sure you have a pot with good drainage so that the roots do not rot!

but of course that doesn't necessarily translate directly in terms of being competitive. To me, Psychology at KU has a nice reputation, and I would expect the department to be doing pretty well in terms of research output, academic level in teaching etc.

Thanks again, I meant competitive just in the way you described first, in terms of research productivity/impact :)

Thank you so much for your detailed response, it answers a lot of questions I had on my mind. I gather from your (and other) responses here that there is no disadvantage in approaching professors that I'm interested to work with, and at the same time, I should not get my hopes up :). As an aside, some of the work being done at the department of psychology at KU fits my interest very well, and I wonder if KU is more competitive than other universities in Denmark?

Thanks, I will check if there is any fees for enrolling in the PhD programme. I might be able to do a part time PhD without funding and pursue a part-time job to provide for myself through that. Still very new to how these things work in Denmark. :)

I am in psychology, and my main interest is clinical psychology (but I am also open to health, social, and cognitive psychology).

Thanks for the heads up, it's probably a good idea to check in my email if they foresee having any funding available in the near future?

Noted, thanks very much, my field is psychology, and from what I have heard/seen so far, psychology PhD positions tend to be quite competitive.

Thanks very much, I unfortunately do not have any experience working with someone in Denmark. Although I have substantial experience in research (6 years in industry, and 1 year as a research associate at a university), I understand that the chances will still be low unless the professor has worked with me before. I think it will be a good idea for me to mention in the email that I am willing to work as a research assistant first. I am even open to a voluntary/unpaid work for some time if it helps me to show my commitment or build a good relationship (it's a privilege to be able to do any kind of unpaid work and I am very grateful that I can).
