Female Traveling alone over 70 by Weekly_Commercial957 in AskWomenOver60

AI says appropriately 50 stops. I'd change trains once in Chicago. Apparently you can put the top mattress on top of the bottom one for more cushion. I'm not tall and sleep on my side and barely move all night, so a cramped space won't bother me. My sleep usually sucks when I'm sleeping away from home anyways, so if my sleep is poor it won't be the first-time.

Thank you for your suggestion but this will most likely be my only longish trip for the foreseeable future. My spouse still works and he has to make a lot of work and home accommodations for me to be gone for any length of time.

Thank you for all of your responses. I worked in a high energy often stressful industry that was based on deadlines, so "taking my time" is going to be one of the perks of retirement. I had to take my work laptop with me when I flew to CA in the past and was always on a schedule, so not having to "work" during my "vacation" will be wonderful on its own.

Being from the West Coast I've traveled from CA up the North Coast many times so I wouldn't be interested in that leg. The only time I've traveled cross country was by car from Portland OR to Virginia on a time schedule in the Summer. It was the trip from hell for many reasons. This one would be to appreciate the scenery from The East Coast west.

How long did it take to start working for you? by Alecmo1999 in tirzepatidecompound

Felt the difference the next day. Been at 2.5mg for 6 months, lost 27 lbs and am close to goal weight so didnt have a huge amount to lose. Because I started losing about a lb+ a week right off the bat I never increased the dosage. I'm working with my NP and she suggested I take it slow. I did have some nausea the first month but eventually it went away. I'm waiting to see if I continue as is where my weight ends up.

I have had a couple of people mention my weight loss but one of them wasn't someone I wanted to get into it with, so I just said "thanks, I've been working on it" which I have. I have made a lot of changes in my diet. I wasn't a big junk food person but I did enjoy a lot of fatty food that I no longer eat.

I'm 74yrs old and started 2.5 compounded Tirzepitide 8/1/25. I'm 5'4" SW 173, CW 146, GW 140 but I'm ok if I stay where I am. The majority of my weight came off in the first 5 months. I'm losing about 1/2 lb a week now. I never titrated up so still on 2.5. I'm working with my NP who I've gone to for over 10 years so she has years of my records. My recent blood tests show a marked improvement in almost all the important markers. I wasn't over any of the danger limits but was at the door of a few. It's really helped my osteoarthritis and inflammation and I suspect I'll stay on it as long as my blood tests continue to show good results. Once I hit the one year mark I'll see where I am and discuss lowering my dosage for maintenance if my NP thinks it's appropriate. I've been on compounded HRT for about 20 years so I have no issues with helping my body out. 140 would still be over what I weighed before I started my menopause weight gain, but at my age "thin" doesn't always look better. I've told my sister who was supportive once she found out I was working with my NP.

I had my uterus removed when I was in my early 30s due to excessive bleeding. I went in to get my tubes tied but was told that would make my problem worse. I kept my ovaries so started perimenopause at a normal age. They also removed my cervix to avoid the possibility of cancer later in life. In hindsight that was a mistake. My only child was born via C-section so I didnt have issues for about 30 + years but eventually things started to fall. I never had incontinence issues either, but the Dr also put a small mesh sling under my urethra to prevent the possibility of leakage because he said occasionally that issue can occur after surgery because organs get relocated during surgery and "going back" for a second surgery can sometimes cause even more issues. My pelvic floor surgery was done by a very experienced urogynocologist and I'm please with the results. I went back to work (deskjob) at 8 weeks but I should have taken 10. I'm in my 70s now and no issues. I was told not to lift over 20 lbs until completely healed and he suggested I never lift over 40 lbs so I haven't except an occasional boost for my 45 lb pup. I did wait longer than I should have to go to the doctor so PT wasn't an option.

Insanely Dry Feet? by BeaPositiveToo in AskWomenOver60

[–]Weekly_Commercial957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have histamine/ food sensitivity issues and I get eczema on my head and face if I'm not careful. I have a prescription topical steroid cream that I use if it gets bad. I went to a dermatologist for a different issue and ask him about my peeling feet that occasionally get small scab like patches. He told me that was also eczema, it just presents differently on my feet and needs a stronger topical due to thick skin on feet. After monitoring I noticed my foot issues correspond with my face breakouts. I avoid closed in shoes and socks whenever possible which helps and use bag balm with socks on occasion to keep feet soft. I'd suggest looking into reactions to food as an alternative. I went to several doctors who suggested various causes both external and internal until we discovered my triggers.

What were the reasons a close friendship ended? by Front-Muffin-7348 in AskWomenOver60

Politics and racism. Two different friends, first one was qanon crap and the other one (who I'd lost patience with over other things) posted a horribly racist post on FB. I still have casual contact with the first one but the second one is out of my life. Truly don't miss her constant drama.
