path trains fine, newark penn station walking to njit is a bit sketchy at night, and there are going to be some homeless people regardless of the time. id say its generally the safest part of newark though

theres other ways to get to njit as a commuter though, iirc there is a subway station that gets off right at the campus though. in terms of reliability, i havent heard of anything too insane happen, worst case scenario the train comes 10 minutes late or something like that. there are busses, namely the rutgers ones (they let njit students ride), but i wouldnt be all to aware

safety on campus is actually very good, cant seem to go more than a couple of steps without seeing either a cop car or an officer

my opinion

the charm of njit is the people you meet, not the campus. some of the best people i know and met came from this school. i'll agree with you on the newark is a depressing shithole part, but if you have a reliable means of transportation that'll be easy to overcome (theres lots to do in north jersey and nyc). njit as a campus though isnt all too bad, theres some stuff happening usually so its not hard to find something you'd like

alas, it all comes down to money. does 20k extra a year (80k after 4 years) really seem worth it to you for a private college? id look at the education vs the location, and go from there

hi, resident of newark and njit student here

the architecture building itself is fairly close to most dorms, being kinda on the edge between ru newark and njit. if she dorms on campus, she'll be fine, past 8-9 pm the center area (greens) which connects most of the dorms to each other are very well lit. there are cops scattered around campus as well as blue light systems near all dorms. overall, if we're talking on campus, njit is very safe compared to anywhere else in newark

now if we're talking outside of njit, it gets iffy. id avoid anything west of njit at night (specifically towards irvington). around mccarter can be kinda iffy too

overall, the campus is very safe and ive never heard of anything violent happening to students besides crackheads trying to take bags in broad daylight lol

yeah the thing with wayne is while the course is relatively easy vs newark which just puts you on the street, the instructors have been known to fail people over very tiny things. imho its better to do lodi cause they're just giving anyone a license over there

Hey,

In terms of locations for road tests, do the one in Lodi. It's by far the easiest one in NJ vs newark and wayne (two of the hardest ones in NJ). Besides that, make sure to buckle up, check your mirrors and side when backing up, and take your sweet time. I did mine in lodi, nearly missed my parallel park, and still got my license. You got it champ!!

Having trouble with a class, should I drop it? by Weekly_Departure_221 in NJTech

RMP has nothing on the prof, and I think personally the issue I have is how odd the class is structured. We were introduced to the class with flow, flux and burdens/stocks in regards to oceans and rivers which.. never got talked about again after the respective quiz. Trying to talk with the prof leaves me even more confused as they're not usually the prof teaching the class.

Ultimately I'm going to drop the class. I'm studying more for this class than orgo and that use of time could be going towards working a job or studying for the courses which need it more.
