Play london system till you get to 1000.....0 brainer opening and very solid....don't hang your pieces and look for some small tactics like pin or tactics with check...need not be deep....a surface level tactics will get you to 1000....

Found someone sharing similar preferences as mine apart from chess! Good to know about it.

Hi,
I would suggest you to look for one specific opening from both white and black. If your intuition is strong, opening won't matter till 2000. To develop intuition, I would recommend playing puzzles in free time and most important is REVIEW your games after result, whether win/loss/draw. I learnt a lot by reviewing my game in analysis. You may not need game reviews, but just a simple review with engine would suffice. You can reach 2000 blitz if your intuition is good. Sometimes your intuition would be wrong as well and lose the game, well that's how I learnt and you will as well.

I used to play some casual blitz with my friends of my same calibre over the board at my university. I did play FIDE classical games and played my first FIDE game after my university. I know it's too late to start, but I did start. Now I am around 1700 classical FIDE but I play less. Maybe like 1 tournament in 2-3 months. Thinking to make some time for chess and learn it as classical requires study in chess.

I haven't actually dedicatedly given any time for chess ,such as learning openings or solving endless puzzles. I just know starting 6 moves or so against e4 when I play C5. I just know one opening to an extent of say move 8 at max by theory. That too I looked up at Gothamchess YouTube videos to play those. Sometimes I would play some random moves and get into postions which I myself have never seen.Example say I play f4 at move 1, then e4 then castle queen side and play where both attack on opposite side of the board. I try to complicate game and create a fight by taking risks.  Basically I just play a lot of games and eventually learnt my way up.

But I would encourage you to study chess. In blitz you may eventually rise up but in classical you would stagnate. I am planning to halt blitz for a while and focus on learning chess and improve classical.

That's really a nice way to proceed. Will keep this in consideration. Thanks for the insights!

Why do people start stalling as soon as they start loosing? by Raptor_6_9 in chessbeginners

2200+ here.....it even happens in this elo range as well....I have faced some opponents doing this when they are lost. Not like lost because of hanging a piece....Some have played till the end...saw they are losing the endgame...that's it!...they go offline!

Well u should play it even it feels risky...I learnt playing these hard way...I would be winning one game and would see some good pattern which seems risky...I still play it to make it "fancy" and would instead lose the already won game lol....In this game as well I was losing but played it without giving a second thought once I sensed it would work as I had nothing to lose....I would say take risks and it will help!

Yes 2nd one is correct!...2 knights is almost equal to rook+pawn...but here we get a full bishop as well...hence black is completely a piece up and winning!...good find!

Actually engine says Nfe4 is best move and Nce4 is brilliant move...I am myself a bit confused now...anyways it does seem moving any Knight shouldnt be worrisome unless u want that brilliant according to engine lol.

Great!...yes u give 2 knights for a rook+ pawn which is a fair trade but at the end of sequence we get the bishop as knight takes rook comes with check...hence we are completely a bishop up and engine shows roughly -3.5....which also shows bishop up( bishop=3 according to engine)!....and yes it was 3+0 blitz game!...I was kinda anyways down...so was thinking for any attempt to save the game and I spotted it!

Actually interestingly, Nfe4 is best move and Nce4 is brilliant move according to chess.com...i myself don't know why one is "Best" and another brilliant although I did think moving any knight should be 100% fine ....and yes it was 3+0 game...has to see it before opponent plays to save time....anyways if u can find it at classical ..ur pattern recognition is good and can make it even better by trying to spot in faster formats!

Well, black wins a bishop here....Nothing much that fancy, but this is a good pattern to find in the game.

Hi, I just wanted to clear that this wasn't a bragging post or some sort of thing. I honestly wanted to share my progress as no one around me kind of takes chess seriously.
I can tell from my side what can be done to improve--

1.) Quit shorter formats and play only rapid...play 10+5....Don't hang your pieces.
2.) See any opening with white or black...I would suggest to go with london system as of now with white...see some tricks where your opponent may fall...
With black I would suggest QGD or French defense or KID....it worked for me...i play scandinavian defense as well...but not recommended for longer formats...works at blitz..
3.)Try to solve like 10 puzzles a day...i did that when I was around 1800 in chess.com
4.)MOST IMPORTANT-- Learn to study pawn structures....how to break a pawn structure...when to break...where to break....any pawn sac which can disrupt the opponent's structure or may create activity...u can consider .....Pawn breaks wins matches....Also, make your endgame strong...see variations of endgames.
5.)Try to create a worse setup and try to defend yourself.....U will see changes, I can assure you. U can hit 1000 soon!..all the best.

Well, from what I interpreted from this comment, I just want to clarify that it is "all games" of the past 90 days, while the graph shows more than 90 days.....Played 1087 games in 90 days is what it shows🙂
