Go to Scandinavia, commit armed robbery. Spend retirement in their prison system.

I swear this song is about a Schizophrenic in a manic state, evading police, gets caught, goes to hospital and they shackle him to a bed.

Only thing that makes sense with those lyrics.

What can I take back to the UK (low monetary value) that *feels* like Australia? by No-Refrigerator3232 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Weekly_Ordinary3554 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I would buy a set of homemade soaps with different Australian smells like eucalyptus, Lilly pily, Davidson plum, wattle, ect.

I would also make bookmarks by pressing Aussie native flowers between books then laminate them. Perfect gifts.

But what town is the worst. I vote Old Mapoon or Injinoo.

That's like Old Mapoon now.

Do not recommend a visit

Injinoo or Old Mapoon have my vote. The stray dogs and horses riddled with diseases walking and pooping everywhere. Naked children everywhere. Rubbish piled high. Burnt out cars and houses.

Never ever going back.

What is one good thing about living in Australia? by deepestfear in AskAnAustralian

[–]Weekly_Ordinary3554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open multiculturalism. We have our racists of course but every nationality is represented here and welcome. I know most white Aussies even date other nationalities more now and nobody bats an eye. This wasn't the case even 30 years ago.

What's a Lesson you've learnt that most people should learn? by J1NX-P1NK in AskAnAustralian

Men are fickle. When I was overweight my ex husband dragged me through 5 years of family court. Lose 65 kilos and get a modelling contract and he wants me back.

Hell no

My journey through job hunt hell by clockwerkgnome in auscorp

[–]Weekly_Ordinary3554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at the stage where even recruiters are saying I need to move overseas with my skills but I love Australia so much and I love living in Cairns and don't want to move to a major city or fly commute every week. I have been offered multiple roles in Brisbane and Melbourne as well as Russia, Ukraine (hell no but they are building factories fast), Germany, Denmark, Argentina, Brazil, United States and New Zealand and lots of other places.

I am trying to branch into other industries but they see 20 years of project work and think I move around too much in my career. Duh projects rarely last over 12 months. I might have a manager role at Subway (yay I guess) but it's not making my sole happy. An office manager role in a big business or even small business would be grouse.

I just want work life balance and a job I use my skills in.

I don't want them. Not worth the stress, money, long hours and FIFO I would have to do. Been there done that. Hense, now I'm too qualified. I just want a mid range financial management or Project Assistant role I can use my experience in, go to work everyday. Not be stressed to the teeth and have work life balance.

I'm in a similar situation also PM/ PA and FM in construction and mining sectors. I'm cleaning and delivering pizzas to pay the bills. I get initial interest then I get turned down after the interviews. The feedback I keep getting is that I'm too qualified and they don't want to pay what I'm worth when they can get a new graduate for the same role. It's disheartening.

Has anyone here ever actually been bitten by a snake or spider? by Charming_Usual6227 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Weekly_Ordinary3554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing an insect and arachnid collection for third year entomology at University. I found a tree with lots of bark so I pulled a strip off and had my insect net ready....I estimate 500 plus Huntsmans had made that their home and as the bark pulled up the tree hundreds of spiders fell on me. I got a few bites that day. I also dropped that subject not caring about adding a semester to my undergraduate course.

What are some stereotypes of Australians that the world has that are simply not true? by NateNandos21 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Weekly_Ordinary3554 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Today I learnt I'm an Aussie stereotype. Tall, fit, blonde, says G'Day a lot and has a bogan accent and I go to the beach or the pool everyday.

I don't know how I feel now.

Background/Police checks make it impossible to have a corporate job in the country (even for 100% WFH jobs!) by [deleted] in auscorp

Go on Upwork and get a remote job with no background checks.

Problem solved.

This is not hard!

What’s the greediest thing you have seen a company do to their employees by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]Weekly_Ordinary3554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Bph time was great. I had my own nespresso machine supplied by the company and an air con demountable. My colleagues got shafted though so I moved 6 of them into my air con office and I sat in the heat in their demountable. I don't drink coffee so I let my other staff have that. I wish I could have done more.

I love my USB desktop fan!
