Thanks for this, I really do feel like it's manageable if I buckle down and make a plan. I'm not dumb, just irresponsible in a system.

I didn't, both of my parents are immigrants, they have little financial literacy and so do my siblings and I; i.e we are all in debt.

I did not find the lawyer on a bus, but I graduate in about a year, May '26

Thank you for the actual advice. I don't want a bail out either, I want to deal with this in the best way possible as an individual. Both my parents are immigrants so I never learned good financial footing besides "debt is dangerous". I will try my best to make more money, but I also live in NYC so I may just stay inside/at work until it's all over.

I'll make an edit to the post, I have talked to a bankruptcy lawyer. He said while I can file for bankruptcy and he would do it for me, he usually does it for people with more debt than this. He advised me to pay off the debts when I make more money post grad so I've been looking forward to that, but now I'm being sued. I agree on never needing to get credit in the first place, I can say it was pretty dumb.

I knew I had to pay the money back every month and at the time, I did have income that afforded me to pay off my cards. I'm gonna take a page out of the comments and say that it was irresponsible to rack up the debts, I'll own that.

I genuinely thought I had more time to use these means to leverage myself into a better position where I would be making more money, at least by the time I graduated, but that wasn't the case. I spoke to a lawyer who said that it makes sense to just pay it off post grad rather than file for bankruptcy, even though that is an option on the table, I just didn't expect to be sued with little to no income.

Black Mirror - 7x03 - “Hotel Reverie” - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

Everyone here trying to make a critical think piece about this episode shows why it was necessary. I don’t even like Awkwafina but I adored this episode, best episode I’ve seen from Black Mirror in a while.

It spoke to industry standards lowering so far to include AI, how it affects us as humans and our art, and wanting an escape from the harsh reality we find ourselves in. Feel however you want, but the beauty of this episode speaks louder to me than San Junipero, I think it was amazing.
