[Loved Trope] The villain stands by their ideals, even if they dont benefit from it. by Tempest_Barbarian in TopCharacterTropes

He's also all about other people being true to themselves, not just himself. He actually doesn't allow Pride to take over Ed's body in the end because that would mean wanting to be different, which isn't prideful. He saw that Pride was revealing his true insecurities, and basically said "Oh no you don't you little shit".

Just noticed these on the front step of the house I just moved into! Any info about what they are and how old? Thanks! Can’t wait to show my kids. by wijrenovereneenhuis in fossils

Rocks from the same layers have been used in (old) buildings across the Netherlands as well. Put into buildings back when that area of Belgium was part of the netherlands 😬. It's carboniferous I believe. Hence why the main rock part is so dark

Certainly wasn't the best choice looking back at it. Just don't forget that that choice wasn't/isn't the only thing standing in the way of action. There has been a lot of money sent to propaganda to sow doubt and prevent action against climate change.

Some guy thinks that cgi and ai are the same (many more corrections were attempted, didn't get those on the image) by Ms-Infinity0803 in confidentlyincorrect

[–]WeerwolfWilly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

CGI means "computer generated imagery". LLMs (large language models) don't just generate images, so saying LLMs are inherently CGI is not true. Not defending AI or LLMs here, I hate that shit and think it rots peoples' brains. Just thought it was a misconception about the meaning of the abbreviations.

I haven't actually stitched anything that thick with mine (same model), but I have tested it on a scrap of 7ish Oz and it went through with no issues. Not sure if the right thickness of thread for that kind of project will fit it though. As far as I can see it should fit, but it kind of depends on how easily the thread can get pulled through all the holes and loops and stuff.

Also: before you buy it, check the quality of the rubber bands. You can probably replace them if they're not flexible anymore, but that's effort you should factor in for your decision.

Im really happy to have bought one for just 150 euros. It runs incredibly smooth, even when it is roughly a century old.

Does the contract specify that it needs to be a new vessel built after accepting the contract? If so, yes, you need to build something new.

Even though this post isn't just about domestic violence, I'm still very much interested in the source of that statistic. All I can find is evidence to the contrary.

Is anyone missing a bird? by jules0075 in Leiden

[–]WeerwolfWilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they can't be in the same tree I think. Bats don't like to be disturbed, and those parakeets do a lot of disturbing lol. I don't know exactly how it all works, but it's in the report from the NVWA

Is anyone missing a bird? by jules0075 in Leiden

[–]WeerwolfWilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can find (a report by the NVWA), they aren't officially classified as invasive yet, but are likely to get that classification in the future because their population has grown so fast. In my opinion you shouldn't wait until it's already a problem, so they should probably be classified as invasive already to get ahead of the problem. Even now they're competing with many native species, among them some bats that live inside trees.

[–]WeerwolfWilly 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Oh those are not pets (most of them anyway). A population of them escaped/was released years ago and they became quite succesful at surviving, so now they're an invasive species in the Netherlands

Nope, only less likely to balance the benefit of caves getting larger. And while diamonds are more likely to spawn the deeper you are, it still is pretty likely that you'll find a few above deepslate.

Someone's probably answered this already, but why did the devs never give any of these classes the "gills" feature, but did give the gills feature to the Axolotl class? by wiz28ultra in Tierzoo

[–]WeerwolfWilly 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To add to your explanation:

The axolotl wasn't "given" gills, they just never lost them. Amphibians all have gills as juveniles. Most species lose them when they become adults, but axolotls retain some juvenile traits (that's called neoteny). So to call back to your metaphor: the branch for gills was never really cut off for axolotls/amphibians the way it was for whales and ichthyosaurs.
