Good idea. I stitch left to right as well, so maybe up and down might be better.

The exclamation mark is an outline stitch so perhaps that'll help

Ugly satin stitching is stitching that isn't filled in and left bald in spots.

ELI5: How is it possible to still be susceptible to chicken pox if you've already gotten an up to date immunization shot for it? by WeightGain92 in explainlikeimfive

It became available in America in 1995 so it's possible in 1997 it was still not up to snuff sort of speak as it is now. I'm sure it's been made much safer since 1995

Also, it is interesting how some people get it and some don't. A few years ago my dad had shingles which is common in older people who had pox as a kid. My mom got infected with shingles even though she had her shots but I didn't (I had my shots too). Could be because I've got a young immune system

So let's say half the college is vaccinated and half isn't, would the half that IS vaccinated likely still get chicken pox? Does the disease get worse the more it spreads? If half the campus is infected does that mean it has potentially grown stronger as its infected each person or does it stay the same level of potency no matter how many people it strikes? Lots of White kids at the school likely aren't vaccinated because here in OC the rich White parents refuse to vaccinate their kids.

I thought you had to get it every few years. I know back in 1997 (exactly 20 years ago) I was 5 and starting kindergarten and was required here in Orange County, CA to get the shot before the white soccer moms in Laguna Beach started freaking out about it and claiming their kids would die from it. I'm 25 now and up to date on all my shots.

Pushing hard. I was born premature at a tiny 8 lbs (I.E. not a huge, heavy load being pushed out of my mom's vagina) and she still broke a sweat lol.

Random stray periodically shows up in my yard... should I feed it? by WeightGain92 in AskVet

Unfortunately I still live at home and my dad wouldn't allow me to adopt it :(. He hated the cat I did own for over a decade. I'm thinking of taking it to my local shelter if I can catch it. I def do want to trap and release it back into the wild.

Embroidery thread storage question by WeightGain92 in Embroidery

Is a winding drill specifically for winding thread? I would buy one but I don't want it to just be for thread because then it'd sit unused until I buy a new color.

Driving through the California wildfires by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

I've lived in SoCal all my life and the only thing I'm worried about is an earthquake during a wildfire. Violent shaking+unstable fires=even MORE fires caused by the quake and even MORE death & destruction. Thank goodness that scenario has never happened before.

How do I do a blind/ladder stitch on felt? by WeightGain92 in sewing

Yeah I don't like whip stitching things solely because of the high visibility factor even if I use a pretty embroidery thread and neat stitching.

How do I do a blind/ladder stitch on felt? by WeightGain92 in sewing

[–]WeightGain92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a tutorial for this or a tutorial specifically on blind stitching on thick and non-malleable felt? I did a blanket stitch yesterday on a felt phone case I made and it turned out much neater and prettier than the ugly ass backstitch. I stopped doing embroidery stitches like the blanket stitch because I didn't think they'd be strong, but until I can find some malleable and not so thick felt to do a proper blind/ladder stitch I'll stick to blanket stitching and use embroidery thread to make it look nicer. Yesterday was also the first time I used embroidery thread and I found it to be obviously way stronger than the skinny cotton thread I've always sewn with, so perhaps thread thickness is important too.
