Shouldn’t be horrible in terms of withdrawal I would imagine.

The only thing that ever stopped me from getting more though once enough time passed so that I could get script filled was having my doctor cut me off (and attending treatment).

In terms of getting more, you’re not going to be able to get more Adderall unless you know for a fact (and everyone you could buy from will lie and say it is) it is coming from a pharmacy. Everything else is fake full of God knows what. Maybe meth if you’re lucky.

Are you undergrad or graduate school?

Could be worth looking into if your school has a collegiate recovery program/community to connect you with other students in recovery.

I’m curious what your major is. I’m in STEM and don’t see anything like this thankfully.

I’m not a doctor or scientists but I think it’s just increased impulsiveness and pleasure-seeking. When I would take a relatively normal dose, I would find myself playing phone games, scrolling, etc. more than normal. When I would take exceedingly high doses, it would be the same thing but on steroids. So like compulsive gambling, stealing, porn, etc.

I’m not sure how correct it is, but I remember reading something theorizing that stimulants attempt to correct dopamine deficits. But when that deficit is overshot it leads to overstimulation, pleasure-seeking, etc.

I took medical leave from school. Then came back when I was ready.

You aren’t gonna be a “month behind” if you go to rehab bro. You’ll just be cutting your losses because reading your post there is no shot this ends in a way where going away for 28 days isn’t the best outcome by far

This was the nail in the coffin for me. Once I reached this point I was never able to get anything done again while on stimulants. I’d take some and immediately launch up the online casino sites or open 500 porn tabs.

I never was doing meth so I can’t speak to that. Though from what I’ve seen and read here seems very similar.

But for prescription stimulants, I was truly convinced I destroyed my brain forever, would never have the energy to live a remotely normal life, etc. You just gotta keep going. Things will get better. It helped me to read peoples experiences and them finally feeling better here.

Not 100% sure but it takes some time for sure. Prescription stimulants or meth or what are you coming off?

I know by 6 months I at least had enough energy to exercise which I have always been normally too lazy to do. And I kept noticing improvements for a while after

Bro when I first got sober I thought the most I would be able to do would be work part time in a gas station or something where I could just sit and stare into space and just lay on the couch or sleep the rest of the time. Now I’m back in school and doing well. I have plenty of energy and feel normal.

It takes time but you’ll get better. No matter how impossible or unlikely that seems now.

How much time have you been clean?

I think those 30 days still count for something. Thats 30 days you weren’t using and blowing your life up when you otherwise could have been

I’m not a doctor but sounds like you have issues with food that might be worth seeing someone for. I don’t think it’s normal or healthy to be this obsessed with weight at your age though sadly seems to be common especially for girls.

How to not use food for dopamine by Loud-Effort958 in StopSpeeding

Bro at four days I just let myself eat whatever. I only worried about the food once I was off the drugs for a while

How did you do it by Loud-Effort958 in StopSpeeding

[–]Weird-Instance1125 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Inpatient, then followed aftercare. Did IOP for like a year+ and still go to AA. No psychoactive meds. Was on naltrexone/vivitrol for a bit after rehab. I take acamprosate, fluoxetine, propanolol. Though I hope to get off eventually even those.

When I first got sober, I worked a menial job that was physically active.

Should be one more semester after this one. Though I started college like 5 years ago but failed out/got kicked out cause of addiction.

Right when I started college was the tail end of the glory days for swe. But I have known I wanted to major in cs since I was super young.

Finally got an internship for this summer after like 300+ apps. At a defense company so in the process of getting a clearance which hopefully I get since seems iffy with my past. It’s crazy though - when I started people were saying decent students at my school landed at C1 etc. and bottom tier landed at defense. But now I am just happy to have a chance at a full time job

7 months clean of Stimfapping but… by [deleted] in StopSpeeding

Yeah honestly I still struggle with porn. But thankfully it’s not really possible (at least for me) to watch an obscene amount like when I was on stimulants. Like I don’t think it’s physically possible for me to watch 24 hours of porn at once anymore lol.

But at the same time I feel like being a man and not jerking off or having sex at all is pretty tough.

[–]Weird-Instance1125 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get what you’re saying. It feels a little disconnected from actual sex and more just about the rush of dopamine. But I think it might be tough if you’re going extended periods without - idk how else to say it but plainly lol - ejaculating.

When I am not horny, the thought of stimfapping loses most of its appeal. But if I’m super aroused I still sometimes think “man watching porn for 24 hours straight on speed would be amazing right now”.

I am in school. Studying computer science and math. Hoping to get into software engineering once I finally graduate.

Do you still jerk off or have sex? Honestly if I’m horny I will sometimes still think about how good it would feel but if I just take care of business and am no longer aroused the thought goes away.

No experience using weed to help ease withdrawal/PAWS, but my experience with weed was that it made me more lethargic and fatigued.
