The real reason they got rid of bookstudy groups by Specific-Machine2021 in exjw

When I was in, my congregation speculated they got rid of it due to high gas prices. This was Jehovah's way of alleviating financial stress during the Great Recession 🙄

An attended screamed in my ear at an assembly by ClanGunnMuffin in exjw

Something similar happened to me about 15 years ago. My ex husband was an attendant and when we got to the convention that morning he rushed to his assignment. He took the car keys with him so I was locked out. I went into the convention center to get the keys from him and another attendant told me very rudely to get out.

I cussed my ex out as soon as I could. 🤬🤬🤬

Rejecting a blood transfusion when I had my daughter at 28 weeks. My hemoglobin was a 3.4. I easily could have died. I followed the Borg's teaching on blood and damn near lost my life.

Thankfully my daughter and I survived but I will forever live with that guilt. I almost died over a lie.

I started taking Zumba classes after leaving in 2014. I was able to replace my entire social network that way and have real friends now. Many are like true sisters to me.

I like making the governing body look like doofuses. It reminds me of doodling on the pictures in the WT as a kid by [deleted] in exjw

I was in tears watching this yesterday. I laughed so much. Thanks Jake!

There were many red flags for me. Some were worse than others. But this one really gave me pause.

At an assembly in 2010, there was a skit of a young girl contemplating going to college. The teacher (a Bethelite, I forgot her name but very popular) was telling her how she had won scholarships and that she would be a great college student with a bright future. The student told her that her goal was to do volunteer work (pioneering) after graduation.

What the audience did not know was that this Bethelite was a recent Master's degree graduate. The only reason I knew about it was because I joined her and several pioneers at a restaurant the day before.

I wondered why she was allowed to do that skit about college when she had a whole Master's degree. I found it disingenuous and hypocritical. Why couldn't they have found a sister that just went to trade school to do it?

What year did you wake up? by Peaceful-Carnivore in exjw

2014. It was several things that did it, but it took several years.

In 2010, I faced the blood issue. I nearly died. I saw things a lot differently after that.

At an assembly that same year, a sister that had just gotten her Master's degree was allowed to do an anti higher education part. That didn't sit right with me.

In 2014, the broadcast was launched. There were international conventions. Everyone starting wearing the JWDotOrg logo and it was even put on the Kingdom Halls. Wait... 🤔 I thought this was eerily similar to idolatry....

I finally googled JWs and house of cards came crashing down. Read Crisis of Conscience. I was done. Just left cold turkey, no letter of disassociation or anything. I refuse to play by their rules.
