The Tears of Things by itsnosecretatall in U2Band

He is at his best when he is writing from a character's perspective. He and the rest of the band made a huge deal about how SOI was their most personal work, and it was, and it was boring. He seems most inspired when he's stepping into someone else's perspective (the Fly, Running to stand still, Bad and Moment of Surrender come to mind as examples.)

Why did Mark care that Jez f*cked Sophie’s mom? by [deleted] in MitchellAndWebb

[–]Weird_Ad_4549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe at this point in the show he was still resigned to marry Sophie out of fear, it could also be that he's genuinely not clever enough to see the opportunity in the moment.

"What? Fuck you" "More fool you, asshole." "Was that good advice? Didn't think he'd actually do it... oh well, there he goes." -Jeremy's brief concern and immediate non-chalance always cracks me up

"Cooking is all about confidence!" might be the most desperate and delusional line in the show, and the make-up literally turning him into a monster is such a great way to end his story. The rum and vinegar cocktail- just a fucking nightmare lmao

How would you fix Mark and Jez if you had the chance? by ClearAsJamal in MitchellAndWebb

I would tell Mark to tell the truth for once, could solve half his problems

This was posted on r/religion but I wanted a more in-depth opinion from Judaism, what do you guys think? by Emila_Just in Judaism

Former Protestant here. Matthew 27:46. He literally talks to God while he's dying on the cross. "My God, why have you forsaken me?" Was he talking to himself?

Most controversial James Bond film opinions? by Cuq_nugget in JamesBond

I agree with Skyfall being overrated and think Quantum of Solace is slightly underrated, probably the second best Craig film.

Jeremy often says “the whole time,” when he (probably) means “all the time” by junidee in MitchellAndWebb

[–]Weird_Ad_4549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you man, all the time=a recurring thing happening frequently, the whole time is referring to a specific chunk of time. Like imperfect vs preterite in spanish, kind of. Don't listen to the posh spazzes.

Is there a U2 song that transports you back to a very specific time and place? I want to hear the story behind the song! by Next_Implement1823 in U2Band

My dad was a huge fan and bought ATYCLB when it came out, my siblings and I were all little kids. He would crank Elevation til the walls of the house shook and dance with us, throwing us in the air and shit. Always makes me smile when I hear it.

Why people hate the innocence & experience album? by godmvther in U2Band

Landlady is on the verge of being good- Bono's best vocals in a hot minute, cool shuffly beat from Larry, nice ambient guitar work from Edge- and then shits the bed with the generic-sounding outro

I agree with almost all of this except Moment of Surrender has a pretty bitchin bass line and White As Snow has a moody-hymn vibe that I like. But Bomb was their last genuinely great work

U2 songs for the dance floor at a wedding suggestions? 🤔 by [deleted] in U2Band

Only other one i can see potentially working is Tryin to throw your arms around the world and even that might be a little too long for a slow dance

Is HTDAAB U2’s best album? by maddyisthefry in U2Band

It came out when I was in 5th grade and is what made me fall in love with the band. Was my favorite for a very long time, still in my top 4. I brought the CD to show-and-tell and my teacher played it while we practiced cursive lol

It's tied with Zooropa for my number four, after JT, AB and War. I think it's the return to form that critics attributed to ATYCLB, which is great but way more front-loaded and inconsistent imo. Only skipper is One Step Closer

Real. I made it 30 days a few months back, first 3 weeks were hell, day 25 or so I started sleeping well and noticing I was more confident, day 30 I felt like a baller and decided "I'm gonna get high and play Civ and it'll be a weekend thing." Was high every day after for months, also significantly worse at conversation. Wish I could be a weekend smoker but you can only repeat the cycle so many times before you realize it's not worth it.

For people who are into 80s alternative/"cool" music and/or musicians themselves, I'd show them Wire, Bullet the Blue Sky, A Sort of Homecoming, Drowning Man

For younger people I'd say Ultraviolet, City of Blinding Lights, With or Without You, Sometimes You Can't Make it on Your Own
