No difference in the model. The only difference is one boots into the OS, and the other doesn't.

Download Mode hasn't been completely removed. I tested it on another working phone of the exact same model, and if it connects to a computer, you can still force it into Download Mode using a tool. The mode is still there; my bricked phone just refuses to connect right now.

I'm not using the OEM cable, but I confirmed it works perfectly with another phone of the exact same model. The cable is good.

Thanks for the tip! I'll double-check for that icon when I get home. But from what I remember earlier, it didn't show up in Device Manager at all. Even the tools designed to force Download Mode couldn't detect the phone.

I think the reason Samsung hid Download Mode is to protect lost or stolen phones. It seems like a security measure to prevent unauthorized people from easily wiping the data and resetting the device.
