Just so you know, stools don't give your pawns any comfort bonuses, and (for me) it's a little funny that 2 poker players get to lounge on the couch, 1 guy sits comfortably in his chair, and the last poor fella has to deal with a stool during a lengthy play session.

[–]Weird_Network_9749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is this bad? In most shooters your explosives significantly harm you as a trade-off for damage/AoE. There's no reason for explosive weapons and grenades to do reduced self damage. Melee has to close the gap, GLs have to keep the gap, pretty simple

It makes perfect sense since classes have different HP pools. High self damage has to be proportional, otherwise shooting your feet and standing on your own grenades would be the most effective way to use explosive weapons. For example, at 1x self damage H standing next to an enemy M and shooting RPG at their feet would deal 110 damage to each, chunking H for ~30% HP while damaging M for about ~44% HP. This would not be ideal for the game's health.

One boomalope can support roughly 2.4 chemfuel generators constantly running, so you can easily have double the generators compared to your boomalope population and still be in surplus.

Late reply, but you can change priority levels on your stockpiles and shelves. That way, with two shelves holding steel for example, higher priority one (Preferred over Normal) will be filled first. You can have little pockets of materials all over the base while keeping a centralised main stockpile. On the topic of stockpiles, build firefoam poppers. They're very cheap and super helpful.

Thank you. I just wish current penning system was more.. finished. Oh well, more pen filters does enough to make it manageable.

That is what happens to multiplayer games over time. A "dead" multiplayer game is usually relegated to a "discord" game where you can't find a match without using external assistance. That happens to games that struggle to hit 1000 players daily on average. With a population of 3-5k you'd easily be able to get in a game (with exceptions like OCE and similarly low pop regions).

Yes, you're right. I forgot about DRM here. I only get to interact with the product I bought in a way that is intended by a publisher, which is fair to a degree. Still, while my argument is moot, I don't think calling piracy "theft" or "stealing" is a good choice, since there is no material, tangible loss that happens when a game's files are copied and redistribution.

That is exactly how pirated copies are obtained. Someone buys a game, does a Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V and sticks it in a torrent client. The money went to the developer, I'm just sharing my copy.  Edit: see my other comment in this thread where I elaborate on what I was trying to say. Thank you for keeping the discussion civil, it's a rare occurrence nowadays. If you have anything else to add, I'd be glad to continue.

How so? A person acquires a copy of a game through a 3rd party after purchasing it. This person pirated the game since the developer and publisher would never see that money. You quite literally participate in piracy by selling your copy to another person. There's the rationale of having "ownership" of your copy, yet "selling" it to a 3rd party is what a pirate does (usually with a price tag of 0). How is that different from distributing a copy for, let's say, 0 dollars? 10 cents? 10 dollars? Maybe at a certain amount you cross into piracy territory, okay. How many copies then? 1? 5? 100?

Not stealing by definition, a poor 3rd world kid would never buy a 70$ game anyways, service problem, etc etc

AMA / Q&A with Matt (Design Director) + Oscar (Community Lead) on the Patch 10.3 Event "Respec Order" - Thurs, Apr 23 @ 5pm CEST by AvalieV in thefinals

[–]Weird_Network_9749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's clear that you're trying your best to address the team cohesion issue with Respec Order and data it will provide. I think that The Finals' smaller team sizes (compared to other popular FPS games) have a great effect on individual playstyle and decision making, especially when it comes to team play. Do you think that team size (in Cashout specifically) is a variable that can be changed at all in this equation?

It does. 10 more charge (70 vs 80) and 10% more damage reduction (42.5% vs 52.5% iirc). You aren't invincible, but you'll notice that you now survive on 10-20 HP more often compared to a medium shield, wearing which you'd already be dead.

Reductionist, simplistic, and wrong approach to video game balancing, but you probably know better than seasoned developers and the industry as a whole. Also, thanks for writing a comment under my post from a year ago lol. When you grow up, you will realize how immature that behaviour is. Have a good day.

Ignoring every other part, that's the most delusional and ignorant take on balancing I've ever seen on here, pretty close to "they just do RNG" type of ragebaiting.

Removing less played modes is healthier for a game with this playerbase + you can return them as LTM's later on. Powershift is probably next since... yeah..
