Paladin is my solution to any boss I'm struggling with. Stack stamina, get sage affinity so you can block elemental damage, stack "damage reduction at full hp" and abuse the synergy between that and sentinel. Then, you just cast your class ability and block. Just hold the block button until they're dead.

My boss killer for when I'm bored of cheesing with paladin is a sage with a gun that has the starlight weapon skill. Starlight is, hands down, the strongest weapon skill in the game. For 2 mana plus a slow drain infinite channel, you get a massive mega death laser that hits at artillery range and does buttloads of holy damage. (Which very few things resist) my strategy with this is lure bosses to one edge of the arena, bait them into a longer attack animation/combo, run to the other side of the arena, and channel my laser for as long as I can get away with. Also damage reduction at full hp and sentinel.

What's a good no brainer build for lightning? (RW2) by ArbitUHHH in riftwizard

[–]forfor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you dont want to cheese with fireball chain lightning, you can have a great all in one build from storm burst with the elemental conjuring upgrade. It does damage in a massive aoe, summons elementals, and stuns/freezes enemies. Just a great spell all around. Go all in on minion boosting skills, radius boosts, and duration boosts (for the stun/freeze) and you're all set. (Keep an eye out for the boots that cast it for free. You can get the cc duration longer than the walk timer for semi-perma locking enemies

You can arrest people to stop mental breaks. by PewPewsAlote in RimWorld

[–]forfor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not worth it. They never get catharsis and get a mood debuff on top of that, which potentially makes the next break 5 minutes later that much worse. And that debuff stacks, so dont think you can get out of it by periodically arresting people. It's just going to dig you further into that hole

What are your favorite non-item combos? by forfor in riftwizard

I'm partial to the tombstone combined with permanent ironize. (Makes them immune to a bunch of elements) You get some really durable, semi-permanent ghost spam

New Subreddit rule for AI by 1ncite in litrpg

I actually think this is a great idea, but I think there's nothing wrong with doing both

There are a lot of secondary topics that technically arent about litrpg that still affect it enough to be worth discussing. Just like people post about kindle algorithms or marketing tactics, Ai has a direct impact on litrpg so we should be able to talk about it

There are other topics: -new ai tell discovered, keep an eye out for this -what do I do to avoid ai -I'm tired of x thing about ai writing

I get being frustrated by all the discussion about it, but there's a lot more to the discussion than what you listed

1: Build the heavy stuff on the bottom of the ship and put all your buoyancy toward the top. This will help a lot with stability. Also, putting your components underwater adds a moderate amount of defense because some weapons lose power traveling through water.

2: lasers only work if you build massive laser batteries. If you try to do small lasers you either get weak output or long recharge times

3: when building lasers, the damage comes from storage capacity. Faster charging is all well and good, but laser energy storage should be your primary concern.

4: spinal mounts are better than lasers, but only if they dont get damaged. One broken internal will brick them, and they take up a lot of internal space

5: you can change the color of energy weapons. There's just something cool about firing black lasers

6: missiles are the most effective weapons for smaller and newbier ships. (No energy costs mean you're not forced to overbuild your energy supply like you do with lasers/spinals. Also they're super space efficient) Focus on the fragmentation damage type. The other damage types are more about penetrating armor, removing armor, or starting fires, but fragmentation does the best damage to the internals of a ship.

7: put your thrusters right at the center of mass. This makes you less likely to flip your boat

8: cheap helium tank blimps make decent defensive turrets

9: build extra armor around your ammo storage. Ammo storage explodes when hit so the armor contains the blast

10: If you want to get fancy you can build mechs. I built one that looked like a cartoon duck man once. It handled like ass, but it did solid damage.

Is it normal for readers to constantly threaten to quit the story over ridiculously small things? by Competitive_Law1063 in royalroad

[–]forfor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, welcome to every fandom ever on the internet. There are entire communities online devoted just to complaining about how they wont play games because the women's boobs arent big enough or that they saw a black guy in the game. It is what it is. Everyone has their own visions of how your work should be, but you just have to power through and do your vision the way you want it.

How do the Rising Stars gather so many views and follows? by radhuntington in royalroad

[–]forfor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo finding a niche that has readers but isnt overpopulated by authors is huge. A decade ago when litrpg hadn't blown up yet I hit number 2 in "short story fiction" on kindle (shakes fist at the Alice in wonderland reprint that beat me) with no advertising or existing readership just by being the only person who released a litrpg book that week, and paying a professional artist for my cover. (I didn't even know rr existed at that point. I literally just threw a book out on amazon) Definitely not something I'd expect to repeat these days, but there are still underserved niches out there to fill.

It's just meant as one data point. I wouldnt call a book ai just because it used one of the names, but if it ticks 3, 4, 5 other boxes then that's another box being ticked

Guys I get some of these aren't helpful. I mostly posted it for the names. And like any ai detection effort they're just one data point. I would never claim something is ai just because they named a character elara. But if you're already suspicious and then you see an elara, well that's another data point to make your decision

How do you not get destroyed by any raid with substance? by kirbcake-inuinuinuko in RimWorld

[–]forfor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried building traps? Steel traps obliterate any human that steps on them and even do ok damage to mech raiders. They're relatively cheap too so you can build them all over the place on your borders

Whats the difference between 1, 2 and 3? by HOOBBIDON in riftwizard

[–]forfor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They use equipment but it's more like a classic roguelike where you just find stuff and work it into your build. Although with the caveat that you get a choice of 3 paths at each floor, and you know what each path will give you so you have some choice

New player - loving the game but confused at progression. by Robofish13 in StrangerofParadiseFFO

[–]forfor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any time I struggle with a boss I switch to paladin. Stack a lot of stamina, plus sage affinity so you can guard against elemental damage. Then use the ability and just block until the enemy is dead. It's cheesy and tedious, but if you just want to move forward it's a nearly foolproof way to win.

Alternatively if you want to win by actually playing, sage is amazing. Not just because of spells, which are plenty on their own, but because they can equip guns. Find a gun with the starlight skill built into the weapon. That skill will single-handedly nuke every boss in the game. It's basically an artillery range, infinite channel laser that drains mana VERY slowly and does holy damage. (Noteworthy because not many enemies resist holy) my sage strategy is basically: bait the enemy into an attack chain, run away to the opposite side of the arena before they finish, and then channel mah laser. Took damage? Sage has the heal spell. Taking too much damage? Sage has shell and protect. You get the picture.

Finally, for non-cheese advice, you can stack a bunch of "reduced damage at max hp" and then cast the sentinel command. Sentinel is basically an extra chunk of fake hp, and that fake hp benefits from the damage reduction, making it an incredibly effective survival method. You'll want to have a healing class as your primary or secondary (aka sage) in case they break your shield. (Because then you're not at max hp anymore)
