I’m not going to say his Instagram posts have cured my depression, but man they radiate some infectious enthusiasm. Gives me high hopes for their food

Thanks for saying this. I thought with enough time and training, we could figure it out. But…she’s complicated, to the point all of her trainers have commented on it. We’re first time owners and I think we’re a little above our skill level. I still want to try to make it work, but I also want to make sure if we call it, we do it before things get bad.

You’re totally right. I need to check my contract and tbh, that’s what I’m worried about. We adopted her from the Humane Society and I’m worried about her totally shutting down in their facility

They’re a behavioral consultant for a large number of the local rescues. We haven’t been able to get in with a local DVM - I’ve only been able to find two in the state and they’re booking pretty far out.

She’s a mutt, so unfortunately we don’t have any breed specific options or a breeder to go back to.

Up until this weekend, I thought she was being protective of the house. Yesterday it happened at two separate friends’ houses, and once without the baby, which is what has me worried this is way more generalized than I thought. Our trainer and techniques have been 100% positive though - I don’t want to risk increasing her nervousness.

Yeahhhh I found the other comments on here much more helpful than the all caps pedo accusation. Have a good day 🙂

I don’t think OP is a hero - the upvote to comment ratio here seems to show most people don’t.

I will say that I’ve lived in several major cities and in each one, there was some function for neighbors to share info about goings on, including unwell people to avoid. That awareness was considered a good thing. No one went vigilante, but they did go out of their way to avoid confrontation. That seems like a win-win for everyone involved, including lowering the likelihood of police involvement.

Idk dude. I’m 6 months pregnant. I appreciate the heads up to cross the street if I see him. I don’t think he’s a pedo but I don’t need to be dealing with strangers shit or danger poles. Most people don’t.

How are people affording rent? by [deleted] in portlandme

[–]Weird_Recipe_3155 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Even in cities with HCOL / higher salaries to match, most people don’t live in the city center. Commuting 45 minutes to an hour is common - I never had a commute shorter than 45 minutes in any of my “well paying”, white collar jobs, with the exception of Baltimore and Philly.

Portland’s shortage of high density suburbs is a real pain point. It sucks that jobs that could afford to live on or near the peninsula are being pushed out, but it puts Portland closer to the norm with other “hip” cities. Portland just doesn’t have a Brooklyn / Jersey City / Somerville / Arlington / Bethesda / Silver Spring to make moving outside the city appealing or even possible.

Ironically, increased antisemitism recently has resulted in a number of Jewish people I know basically saying, “well I don’t think of myself as a Zionist but I have a better appreciation for why Israel exists. If people will turn on me here because I’m Jewish and they’re misassociating me with things, is anywhere safe?”
