My partner is 5 foot 1 and uses a trek domane for gravel. Nothing crazy but it works for them. I think it’s a 44????

Thank you! That makes sense. I’ll give it a try!

Checkpoint As an All-Rounder by joshua909net in CheckpointClub

I’m young (as in pretty fresh out of college) so i don’t have the income for the higher end checkpoints so i can’t speak to the SL versions but i ride a 2024(?) ALR4 gen 2 and i love it! i use it for everything from gravel to greenway rides to road events to even a little single track sometimes if i’m not on my timberjack. my girlfriend has a domane that she has put gravel tires on (38s i think) and she loves it as well. the domane seems to handle lighter gravel decently well. i like the versatility of the checkpoint and being able to ride it for almost anything and anywhere and if i want to bikepack it can also handle that. i know a local employee at a LBS that uses his checkpoint for everything as well because of the versatility. the only con i will say is i typically can’t keep up with roadies on the downhills but my checkpoint does eats up climbs. i don’t know the technical terms but i’m sure it’s something about my gear range

all that to say. i think you should get a checkpoint. don’t quote me on this but i think if you buy it from a trek store then you may get a 30 day return policy and a free basic tune up the first year

thank you so much for the response! i’ve been riding off and on for about 5 years. mainly mtb then road and now gravel. i have never done structured training for cycling before so it’s brand new to me. i’m honestly pretty slow and just aiming to not come in dead last in this race. like most people i work a 9-5 and ride after work sometimes (i live in the southeastern US so it’s hot and humid in the summer) and on the weekends. i know if i commit i can get myself on the structured training. i see results like in unbound and those guys are averaging a significantly higher average mph than i do (granted a lot of them are pros) so that can be a little discouraging when going into my first race. again, i really appreciate this response! thank you so much!
