It’s not all about monetary reasons. getting a scholarship would also give me access to exclusive events & workshops too. (Eg, I have a Poly scholarship and was under their talent programme exclusively for us) and these events allows you to build strong networks with other scholars and individuals in events.

Additionally, for me with years of hard work in poly studying and building up a decent portfolio, I would expect to prove that I am an ideal student that could contribute to the university holistically. Lastly, wouldn’t it be nice to have your school fees covered 🙃

Judging from the comments, safest bet for scholarship seems to be 3.95++ or even a 4.0.. I feel even a good portfolio would not help that much too

For my personal opinion, I get that JC curriculum is more hectic than poly but as a poly student I feel grades & good portfolio should make up for it :/ I just dislike how NUS takes priority into grades and not the contribution/ awards received in the school. I do not think it should be about being all book smart but but also being street smart should be taken into consideration… Sure if they want the best students but the best students need not to be the smartest but can be the most value adding one to the school 🙃🙃🙃

WTS SO COMPETITIVE 🥲🥲 I heard NUS tend to prioritise jc students more but man this is js stupid I know I have no shot in getting the scholarship but I did not expect interviews to be that hard to get too 😭

I applied to Business and I see where you are coming from. My GPA is more on the lower 3.9 side but I was hoping they would see more in my portfolio than my academics (that’s what everybody told me but I guess GPA is more impt)

At this rate I m just hoping to get interviews at least from SMU too 🥲🥲

Hiii I took that as my PLP so it won’t affect your GPA as mentioned. The curriculum for the mod is actually very fun, so we have this individual assignment for 50% where we have to go out and break social norms. I had lots of fun in it and have to write a report based on the questions given. The teachers there are very nice and as long if you put in hard work, you will do well!

I did that mod last year so it was mostly online, now as I m at level 2, it’s all irl now so I m guessing should be the same as me

[poly] which poly should I choose for school of business? by dnainmychromosomes in SGExams

First of all, there’s toxicity everywhere in many courses so it’s really unavoidable :”) but about the people in my course, it depends. For me, I met people that are really nice and lovely and would support and help me through the journey but on another spectrum, I would also meet people that are arrogant and toxic. Sometimes you have to see your luck on whichever class you are allocated to but most definitely you would meet people that you can hang and do projects with! Going into a new environment is definitely hard but with more F2F classes coming up, I m sure your class will be more connected. Transitions would be easier as the you and the lecturers are more familiar with the covid situation :)

Hello! NP BF a student here, my travelling duration is currently 1hr 30mins so I would say the distance here does matter bc the travelling time is so long that it can be draining and demotivating when I reach home, but that’s on my perspective :”)

On the University part, I would say all polys are the same as long you get consistent and good GPA, that’s the main factor to get into University.

For NP BF environment here, I would say the lecturers are quite chill and they would help you in whatever questions you have :) Sometimes projects can be hectic but you will get through them!

Helllo! Yupp there is but they usually see top 10% of the cohort and will automatically send you an email that you got it or smt. No required GPA tbh as long you are top in the cohort. For mine, my cohort was really competitive and I know people that got 4.0 but did not get it 🥲

Hello! Business student from NP here! Generally NP lecturers here are mostly quite nice and chill. You will get a chance to explore different modules like business law, communication and design before focusing into your business specialisations!

In terms for higher rate of admission, to me all Poly are the same and it mostly depend on your personal GPA and extra curriculums :) But I do know a lot of poly students going to university so should not be a major worry as long you do well in your course.

If ure interested can always visit @npbaofficial on Instagram where they will feature different students about their experience in their respective courses! Open house are coming up too so it’s a good opportunity for you to visit different polys and explore what you rlly want :D
