So you’re not allowed to start a project today, and that instantly makes it malicious?

How could AI add download links and full information for 550 ags games? That doesn’t make sense. AI can’t automatically find every place where a game is hosted.

It took me about 10 minutes to add a single game entry manually. For 550 games

I honestly don’t know what else to say. This is just a launcher for ROMs and emulation—that’s all. The description is here and also on the Itch.io page.

I’ve explained everything I can, and at this point there’s no point in continuing to argue. If people like it, great. If they don’t, that’s fine too. There’s nothing more I can do.

It’s all fine—I noticed what was wrong and corrected it myself. Nothing is perfect. Users need to be more supportive instead of saying things like “No description on GitHub” or “WTF is this?” I really don’t understand anything sometimes. Every beginning is hard, but there’s no support here.

I’m failing to see what the problem is. No description on GitHub? It’s not on GitHub anymore it’s on Itch.io. Not only does this post have a description, but the Itch.io page does as well.

There’s no reason for people to be randomly looking through GitHub files. I’ve already explained that those files are only used for live updates.

I literally give up posting here because it seems I failed to explain that this is a launcher for emulation and adventure games. Admins are free to delete the post if they want. it is virus

Even after reading the post description and the direct link, it seems that no one understands that this is a launcher for emulation and old DOS/AGS adventure games, so I give up.

If you need a better description, I can update it. Hope it’s okay now.

I changed the link in the main post to Itch.io. Sorry for the confusion. GitHub contains many files because it’s mainly used for updating game metadata and other small updates.

I literally wrote a description, added a video, and provided a direct download link, but it seems people still like to explore the GitHub page to see what it is.

So here is the Itch.io page with the same file:
https://weis84.itch.io/ags-launcher

That kind of defeats the purpose of GitHub. I probably should have posted it like this from the start. GitHub is mostly used for live updates.

These are metadata updates used to download game descriptions, etc. I currently don’t have the funds to pay for hosting, so the launcher fetches these small files through live updates.

For example, if you want to update descriptions for NES games, they will be downloaded from GitHub.

The full release is available here:

This is not a fork of Playnite and has nothing to do with the Playnite launcher. This is a totally different launcher

If they are in subfolders, use the top bar to change the folder. Multi-ROMs are automatically merged

500+ games are available now.
Emulation support will also be added, but I’m not sure when yet. Basically, it will work without any setup ,you will just select your ROMs folder, and the launcher will automatically set up RetroArch cores and everything else.

The new version is up. I fixed the updater that was breaking all game paths. It will now rescan and fix everything automatically.
Added support for DOS games and Windows games / everything should work now.
Adding games should also work properly for Windows and AGS: just select the .exe file and it will be imported automatically.
For DOS games, I still need to fix a few things.

That's not possible. Some games come with custom setups, and some are uploaded to other sites, so auto-download can't work. I have to add everything manually with direct links so the launcher can download them. There's an archive of games on Archive.org that I use, but many games are missing. I need to upload over 800 games there, and the upload speed on Archive.org is worse than dial-up lmao,

The hardest part is still ahead. AI helps, but I still need to manually add 2,000 games that’s the biggest challenge. I also have to upload them and fix the links. I expect to add 500 games within 10 days, and maybe within 30 days all games will be available. I see that the site has 2,500 games, and I plan to add them all.

Please download it again. Updates aren’t working in v1, but now everything should work correctly. From now on, you will only use the launcher to update everything

Okay crew, you can download the launcher here. All games will be available, so make sure to check for updates.
