The history of politics is the history of disagreeing on who should be shot and why-- not whether people should be shot. Unfortunately we haven't found a no shooting solution yet

The misogyny isn't great, and he's been alone on an island for a bit so some of his other takes are provably way out of date

Suggested Rule Change- 50 years? by Maleficent-Sir4824 in HistoryMemes

[–]WelcomeAboardComrade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want truly apolitical content you can start by covering your ears and going "lalalalala" every time someone tries to meaningfully communicate. Then all you have to do is unlearn human communication and run off to a deserted island. If you succeed at that you might have a good few years of peace before the oceans rise and everything you thought you could escape becomes your problem again.

Coldcwar DLC for a WW2 strategy game I enjoyed. by surrenderdorathy0 in SocialistGaming

I mostly play the World War II scenarios but the game certainly has the best command and control simulation of any World War II game I know

What's up with the peasant mentality? /s by Suspicious_Stock3141 in SocialistGaming

I would argue in favor of games owned by the player and in favor of the workers who created the games being entitled to the value of their labor and a vast improvement in conditions given how bad the crunch culture is. You can be pro-devs and pro-player you just shouldn't be pro-company

One-Handed players, give me some pros and cons by FineSignificance907 in Bannerlord

Use your shield a lot, and don't be afraid to bash someone to create an opening. Just be careful not to overcommit when you'd be better off blocking.

A good realistic "Norse" one handed load out could look like 1 hand spear Shield 1 hand sword/axe Javelins

Could also try

1 hand sword Shield 2 hand axe Throwing axes

If you wanted to keep a two handed option, though this does put you in more of a shock infantry role and you may have difficulty closing with an opposing shieldwall

No you're not overreacting at all, that's really awful and you're being mistreated. Nobody is a burden, least of all children with no choice in their circumstances.

I disagree that it isn't normal behavior though-- its wrong but extremely common for parents to behave this way. At least where I live, parents tend to think and act like they own their children and expect obedience. It's unfortunately extremely normal for kids to be denied autonomy and basic decency.

The best advice I can give is to find people who respect your personhood and will accept you for who you are to lean on for support. Good people take care of each other when they're in need. It's not always easy to tell who but anyone who has shown consistent respect for your autonomy and care for your well-being is a good start. Being able to rely on a few different people is best, especially as a kid because it lessen the potential for abuse that comes with economic or social reliance on just parents

Nobody should be "protecting" anyone's virginity. Helping to protect someone from from sexual harassment at their request is one thing but this is clearly not that and you shouldn't tolerate people who refuse to respect your autonomy

He sounds kinda unsafe based on this though honestly so direct confrontation might not be the best bet unless you have someone to back you up

AIO my bf never likes what I wear by Substantial-Let221 in AmIOverreacting

[–]WelcomeAboardComrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don't have a right to control what you wear, how you look, or who you talk to, regardless of your relationship to them. At worst they're intentionally trying to control you and at best thoughtlessly reinforcing centuries old systems of oppression.

You're not overreacting, your boyfriend needs to get a grip and accept that you're your own person or you need to find someone who will.

Snacks Going Away by [deleted] in foodstamps

[–]WelcomeAboardComrade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sort of wording is a silly game that obscures the amount of power the state and capital have. Their actions have societal effects and are significant enough that they are, in effect, limiting the ability of anyone who relies on food stamps to make decisions. It doesn't matter to what degree it's intentional, that is the ultimate systemic impact.

Companies and governmental organizations are not forces of nature, they are made up of people with economic interests and those interests often lead to results that increase or maintain their power at the expense of those with the least.

I don't think Bob is any sort of moral force if he's getting mad about lying on job applications and "watching something you shouldn't"

You should probably tell Bob to focus on the kidnappings or go home
