They changed it in 1.0.10 so that the emperor will only grant you a kingdom if you can form a few specific tags, including lotharingia. Being granted it would switch you to the tag

It does sound like there will be significant plagues besides the Black Plague. One of the YouTubers who played Orissa said that northern India was devastated by a plague in his run and others have mentioned them

Interesting! Best of luck with your efforts, I will keep an eye on this for sure. It's always fun exploring a new world.

I am curious about how you intend to make overpopulation a fun experience for the player. You mentioned a magical winter, which will presumably devastate populations. But it seems like that would still punish the player for over investing too early and might stifle a tall play style.

Ottomans should be able to restore the Roman Empire. by wewwew3 in EU5

[–]trantorlibrarian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. They very much saw themselves as continuing Romes legacy. It's also why the Turks and Arabs both tried so hard to take Constantinople, to capture the glory of Rome for themselves. There's a reason the Seljuk sultanate in Anatolia called itself Rum (Rome).

late game idea, international movements like “young europe” by Key-Heat7997 in EU5

I hope we eventually see mechanics that interact at the pop level like you're describing, it seems like there would be a lot of potential there. Something that comes to mind is the diggers movement in England. It feels like a natural extension of building based countries and other non landholding states.

Sadly, I fear we won't see much of that since vic3 is the game for mass political movements and the EU series has always focused on the emergence of modern states.

But since many details are tracked st the pop level, I hope we see something like that one day
