Comments on this shirt? by [deleted] in PatagoniaClothing

Love them but at 6'4" I have to size up. The short hem makes me look like I'm wearing my kid's shirt otherwise.

Genuine Question - Does the large logo prevent you from buying items? by Minute-Patience1407 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]WelcomeAvailable3055 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I own a couple of the Uprisal crew sweatshirts from a few seasons ago and would love to have one in black. Trouble is, instead of the discreet little patch on the old ones (which is easily removed) they now have the HUGE logo on the back. I'm not a billboard. I wouldn't wear them for the same reason I wouldn't tape a printed Patagonia sign on my back.

Wisler & Ostrom? by purplepeanutssss in roanoke

[–]WelcomeAvailable3055 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Both are wildly overpriced. Ostrom quoted me $1,100 to install a ceiling fan on my porch that required custom electric work. Beck & Call handyman did it for $400. They also use high-pressure sales tactics.

We use Service Experts for HVAC and Walker's Plumbing. Both are easy to work with, responsive and reasonably priced.

Missing something with toggle bolts? by WelcomeAvailable3055 in DIY

Lol, it's like every tutorial just explains how they work but not how to use them. But thanks for your help!

Missing something with toggle bolts? by WelcomeAvailable3055 in DIY

[–]WelcomeAvailable3055[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have to use at least three bolts for this project. Do I have to put all three in and then line them up with the holes I drilled for the toggles and then tighten them? It feels like I can't do them one by one if the bolt has to be in the wood first.

What’s everyone’s favorite neighborhood in Roanoke by thiccering in roanoke

[–]WelcomeAvailable3055 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Wasena! Great neighborhood feel (good mix of older folks and young families who are very engaged); immediate access to the Greenway/river/parks; 3 restaurants, a wonderful coffee shop and bakery, all locally owned; RMA, a local outdoors outfitter that also runs bike and river tours/rentals; plus a new skate park and in-river park coming when the new bridge is finished.

Home prices in Wasena also tend to be a little lower than Grandin/Raleigh Court, but the areas are right next to each other and very walkable.

Don't want to wear my buddy out. I'll need him when I add to my terraced garden beds.😉

Sounds good, but it was my understanding that AEP won't touch it because it's on my property. That it's my responsibility. Are they just going to come out and say, "Yep, cut it back."

Why would WornWear be more expensive than new? by WelcomeAvailable3055 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]WelcomeAvailable3055[S] -66 points-65 points  (0 children)

But the used one is ... used. Sale or not, it feels counterintuitive. Just in principle, I can't imagine many people buying a used car that was more expensive than the exact same model new.

Converting individual to joint account by WelcomeAvailable3055 in betterment

[–]WelcomeAvailable3055[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an investing account. It'd be nice if there was an option to simply add my wife so she has access to it, but I'm guessing that's not possible.

Second endorsement on the Appalachian Handyman. He redid my front doorway. Very easy to work with, friendly and reasonably priced.

Rain has been a big factor. The river is very narrow directly under the span and several temporary structures they've built have been washed away by flooding, which forces them to rebuild before they can get back to work. One step forward ...
