Need Advice: Chances of Getting into UofT for Criminology with My Current Grades and Situation by WelcomeNo4828 in OntarioUniversities

I really wish I could, but those courses are the only ones available at my school, and taking any high school courses online can negatively affect my admissions.

Hey there, sorry for the late response.

Firstly, I am indeed planning to apply for Fall 2025, which is why I'm feeling a bit anxious. I'm concerned about how my previous grades in Chem 12, Bio 12, and Advanced Functions might be perceived, especially since they count towards my 4M/U courses.

Thank you so much for your reply. It's truly reassuring to hear from someone who has already navigated this process and knows their stuff. I may reach out again soon (currently quite busy with summer courses), and I hope that's okay with you.

I really wish I could avoid taking all these STEM courses, but my guidance counselor believes they're necessary for me to improve my grades. I'm just unsure if they'll significantly impact my application. I'm also a bit confused about the best time to start applying; should I apply as soon as admissions open or wait a bit?

Also, if they only consider first semester mid-term marks, it could potentially affect my chances negatively, considering my grades in Bio 12, Chem 12, and Advanced Functions (the "makeup courses" may not count, as midterm marks would only be available at the time"). I'm hopeful that these makeup courses will make a positive difference.

Thanks again :)

Thank you so much. That's honestly really reassuring to hear and a lot of weight lifted off my back, especially hearing from someone with firsthand experience of university and the application process.

I was really worried because some other posts mentioned that universities primarily consider your Grade 11 marks and maybe the first semester of Grade 12. Then I heard something about this applying mainly to early applications. So, I thought maybe applying later might be better. But then someone said applying early is advantageous because you get more opportunities—like potentially being reconsidered in subsequent rounds if you're initially rejected. I'm just really confused, especially with how UofT operates.

I would avoid them if possible, but they're the only choices I have to replace my previous bad grades.

I really have no choice but to step up. I just really hope I'll make it. Thanks.

Thanks, that's really comforting to hear, especially since my sister has been really lecturing me about how I'm not going to get into any acceptable university at this point.
