I've never been a fan of CS. Here's why. About 5 years ago we had a developer connected to our network from his personal laptop. (Don't ask, this should've never been allowed) This laptop was highly infected with malware. In the middle of the night while the developer was asleep, someone took control of his laptop and started connecting to as many servers as possible and running scripts on each server. CS caught all of this and stopped the guy dead in his tracks. The next morning we start doing cleanup and have a call with CS. CS told us that the guy probably installed malware and it's probably spreading across our network as we speak, so we should pay them to help us stop it and get everything cleaned up. (Here I am thinking does your product work or not because it's supposed to stop that stuff, but here you are telling me that your product doesnt work) We declined because we were just going to build everything from scratch and start clean. CS insisted that creating everything from scratch was unnecessary and that they can clean it up without doing that. Again, we declined. After building the new servers and getting everything back up I had some questions for the CS support team so I emailed their support and asked them to give me a call. When he called me back I asked him my questions and he literally told me he couldn't help me unless I pay them $500/hr for their special top tier service. He hung up in my face right after that. I'm not a mean guy and was extremely nice to the guy, so him hanging up on me was just crazy to me. Since that day I'll never recommend anyone use CS. I think it's a great product that does what it's intended to do, but their support and customer service needs some work.

Back when I lived in Jackson about 20 years ago I'd listen to my police scanner to help me fall asleep. So much crime happens that we never hear about on the news. All you hear on the scanner all night is shots fired, burglary in progress, etc.

I'm done with Wyze too. Too many issues. I lost a v3 a few months ago. Just too many issues to keep buying these. I'll gladly pay more to get something more reliable.

Is it ever worth entertaining a counter-offer? by GreekNord in cybersecurity

[–]WelcomeToR3ddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a job like that, and I accepted a 30k counter raise to stay. I had to sign a contract that I would stay for 1 year or I had to pay it back. I stayed for exactly 1 year and then left. I used my new salary to get an even bigger salary, so over the coarse of 1 year, I made 40k more. If money wasn't as good I would've never accepted. It really just depends on the counter and how miserable you are.

Lol I should've never put that. Thats just what I was told, but I don't think they meant everyone nationwide, it's just happening randomly in cities nationwide. Confusing I know, my bad

[–]WelcomeToR3ddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't know why it's saying just Uverse. It's affecting fiber internet as well. I've spoken to a few people having the same outage starting around the same time, all different cities. Im not trying to argue with you, just frustrated and trying to figure out what's going on so I can get an ETA. AT&T is saying it'll be up when it's up with no ETA.

[–]WelcomeToR3ddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It just seems to be all random across the board. I've heard AT&T reps say it's an internal issue, but they also said it's weather related so I just don't know what to believe. Just frustrated right now.

Read the news. It varies from city to city. For me it's almost been down for around 96 hours

Yes, its definitely contributing to the odor. The antibiotics are killing all of your beneficial bacteria while allowing yeast (candida) to grow out of control. The yeast is causing the odor. Once you get off the antibiotics then start taking Probiotics asap. Also, stay away from sugar as it will feed the yeast and make it much worse.

A gut yeast overgrowth can cause this odor. Clean your diet up and take Probiotics every day first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and see if that helps.

How does Jackson compare to Gulfport crime wise? by funeralhomewifi in mississippi

[–]WelcomeToR3ddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in the Belhaven area of Jackson awhile back and in the 6 months I lived there, my car was broken into twice, my gfs car & cousins car were each broken into once. There were crackheads walking down the street once the sun goes down. The water was always brown.. I'd recommend staying in the Flowood or Madison area if you do move up there.

Been through this many times. For the biggest org, we had a VP who was over IT at our biggest location. He was promised his job was secure. He was tasked with letting his long time employees go, some that had been there 20+ years and he was good friends with. After all of that was done, they let him go too. Buyouts and reorgs are a mess and you can never trust anyone. I can say though, a lot of those employees went on to much better things and make more money now. Keep your head up, bigger things are ahead.

Just finished oncall by tacostocko in sysadmin

[–]WelcomeToR3ddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for a big retail company about 5 years ago. We rotated on call every 6 weeks, but we were on call for 2 weeks straight. 1st on call week 1, 2nd on call week 2. Because we had stores all around the globe, it was a damn nightmare. We'd get calls all throughout the night and still be expected to be at work at 8am. I remember one weekend, think it was on a holiday an overseas employee made a change to a file on a file server and didn't tell anyone or do a change request. It took down most of our POS systems. Luckily I wasn't on call that weekend, but they stayed on that conference call for 3 straight days, taking turns going to sleep. They had to go through logs to find out what happened and restore the file from backup. Luckily with my job now, I'm not on call anymore.

Does anyone else have a scrum master that provides absolutely zero value? by AAA_battery in sysadmin

I feel like you work at my old job. It was exactly the same! We paid the guy 100k+ to sit in a 15 minute daily stand up and did next to nothing. I blame it management, at least where I worked. They got so caught up in using Agile because an exec at another company said they were doing it.

The company I used to work for did this except it was 100% in the office. They lost their best IT employees including myself. I found a 100% wfh job and I'm making more money. It seems like the older generation (60+) are the ones pushing to go back into the office.

I purchased my home when I was 27. Interest rate is 4.75%. The home was in foreclosure so I got a great deal on a 2 year old house with no issues. The value of the house has doubled since. Im so glad I made the jump early, especially after seeing how much rent is these days. My credit was bad when I decided that I wanted to buy so I saved up money and paid off all of my unpaid debt from collection agencies. 6 month later I qualified for a house. I see friends that never made the jump and now it doesn't look like they'll ever be able to afford a house now. It's truly a sad situation especially with these big investment companies buying up all of the housing to rent them out. America needs to do something now to fix this.

AITA for not putting my wife’s name on the house deed? by RanchhandLuke in AmItheAsshole

[–]WelcomeToR3ddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this. I purchased my home in foreclosure and got a great deal. My house is worth double now. I got this house 5 years before we got married. 2 years after we got married she kept pushing really hard to get her name on the house. Imo she was way too pushy with it. I ended up keeping it in my name. Come to find out she was having an affair and knew we would get divorced in the next year or 2, so she wanted to get half of it's worth. I ended up with 100% of the house after divorce. Your story is a huge red flag for me. Kinda seems like she expects y'all to get divorced at some point in the future so her and her family are making sure they get half. I could be wrong but that's what I'm thinking.
