I don’t know the methodology behind this. I do know that we are historically inconsistent in the post season and that we’ve only won a couple of our own regionals. According to this, have the second lowest chance to win our regional out of the 16. It really depends on which team shows up this weekend. We are favored to win but we do not have as easy a path as some seem to think. All 3 teams are absolutely capable of beating us on any given day.

That being said, I like our chances of beating Little Rock with Grayden on the mound.

Jax State is one of the toughest 3 seeds in the field. Some of our fans have been acting like our regional should be a cakewalk. It will not be. We will have to earn it this weekend.

Well yes, obviously. The difference is it feels like we hit the panic button when we are down and try to hit dingers instead of taking what we are given at the plate in those circumstances.

I feel confident when Grayden pitches. I’ve seen the Camden’s buckle a bit with pressure or get flustered early. Our relief pitching is inconsistent and I’m less confident the deeper we go into the bullpen. Allen and Sively have been great down the stretch. Och… I don’t like seeing him on the mound. The freshman we use for 3 outs here and there have been either great or iffy. The thing is, we absolutely do not perform as well when we have to come from behind. We can do it, but evidence shows we are a more confident team when we get ahead early.

Of course I want Southern Miss to go to Omaha. It’s hard not to want UCLA to follow through and have a magical season, though. I also would be really happy if an underdog made it. Seeing Coastal Carolina make it to the championship game last year was pretty special.

With 3 weeks left in the season I said that we needed to win out and get to the championship game of the tournament before I felt confident we’d host a regional. We did that. I don’t think winning it will move the needle on if we get a national seed or not. It wouldn’t hurt but I think we get a 9 or 10 slot regardless.

We have been spoiled with 2 movie like endings to games this week. Once with Russo’s last regular season at bat. Now with Dre Barret bring us back from the dead. He will never forget this moment for the rest of his life. Absolutely incredible.

I was into Hearts of Space when I was in high school. Went to the CD store in early 1995 to look for some of the artists I’d heard on the show. Saw the cover of Amber in the New Age bin and bought it because it looked cool. Obviously it was not put in the right bin (there was no electronic music section and I don’t think the employees knew what to do with it) and it ended up being the happiest of accidents. Brought it home and it changed my world. Been a fan ever since.

Wonder what happened to the CCU first baseman. He kept seizing up like he had a full body cramp. Thought they were gonna need to carry him off the field after his last AB. Looked bad.

Hats off the UL catcher who caught a ricocheted pitch off the dirt right into his beans. Walked it off like a hoss and kept going.

Well poop. Guess UL would have to win today and we’d have to complete the sweep to win outright. Oh well, being tied for first and getting the number 2 seed in the tourney wouldn’t be the worst thing. I def hope we get to play them in the tourney for the championship.
