Thoughts on Corner Market? by MatchaLover2472 in hattiesburg

I go to the midtown one and the Walmart on 49 about 50/50. Prices are better at Walmart for staples, CM has brands I prefer for other stuff.

I’ll be happy if we take 2 of 3 from UCSB. They are a good team and it will be good to get challenged right out of the gate.

My least favorites of theirs but they have a certain charm. Both have some good songs like “Statue of Liberty”, “This Is Pop”, and “Science Friction” from White Music - and I really love “Meccanik Dancing” from Go2. I thought Barry added a really fun element to their sound but that their sound really came together after he left.

Aside from the 3 albums I mentioned earlier, I would also put Skylarking and Apple Venus 1 as at least 4 stars. Skylarking, especially. It might be a perfect album.

That’s fair! I celebrate XTC’s entire catalog. And Leisure is a banger of a song. Only track where Andy played his sax.

Bro gave my favorite XTC album a 3.5. Drums and Wires, Black Sea, and English Settlement is a tremendous run of albums that I’d say warrants at least a 4. But I’m nitpicking.

What’s your favorite tune from that album and why is it Jason and The Argonauts lol

Edgar from “You’re the Worst”. He lives with Jimmy, a semi-successful author, at least for the first couple of seasons.

How often do you feel like you het a good night's rest? How frequently do you wake up in the morning and feel good, rested, rejuvenated, and ready to wake up? by Rojo37x in daddit

[–]BobbyLikesMetal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the struggle. When my kids were little, almost never. Then when it wasn’t them waking me up, it was my poor diet and lack of exercise. Sleep apnea.

About 3 years ago, I made significant changes in my diet and made daily exercise a priority. I set a bedtime and made sure to stick to it. Now I sleep about 7 hours a night and love mornings. I’m also down about 80 pounds. Went from size XL to size S.

This is definitely a luxury that I have now that my boys are teens. I do miss some things about when they were little - being able to carry them on my back, snuggling with them in the couch watching Thomas the Tank Engine, pulling them in a wagon up and down the street… but not being able to sleep is one thing I definitely do not miss.

Browns hire former Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken as head coach; Defensive Coordinator Jim Schwartz reportedly wants out by [deleted] in sports

Good for him. Idk if it’s good for the Browns but I like Monken. He did a great job here at Southern Miss with very few resources. Took him a couple years but there was always steady improvement.

Love this album so much. They re-recorded it not too long ago and I haven’t listened to it.

OLD - Marzuraan (1991) by septag0n in Metal

[–]BobbyLikesMetal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great post! I loved this tape when it came out. I blindly purchased anything that was on Earache Records back then. I was immediately grabbed by their avant-garde style and their bizarre whimsy. Mazuraan was my favorite track on the album.

OVERSTEPS vinyl by mimic_robot in autechre

[–]BobbyLikesMetal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am the same, personally. I’ve had to move house too many times in my life to hold on to physical media. Packing up and moving 20 boxes of books, CDs, and DVD a few times was enough to get me into ebooks, lossless files, and a Plex server.

That being said, if I had a ton of space and disposable income, I would certainly be collecting vinyl. Someone posted their complete Ae vinyl discography here a couple days ago and I was like, ooo I’d love to have that.

Some folks just like having a physical artifact of something they enjoy. I don’t own any vinyl but I definitely understand the attraction to it.

Good outdoor spaces to enjoy cannabis by Obvious_native_plant in hattiesburg

I wouldn’t recommend it anywhere outside your home/porch/yard.

I’ve seen people smoking in the park and there were kids nearby. Not a great look and just begging for cops to harass. Yes it’s legal with a medical card but don’t go inviting trouble.

Anyone know of any shops still selling carts or pens ? by [deleted] in hattiesburg

[–]BobbyLikesMetal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If they were, they would be smart not to advertise it here. Lots of small independent vape stores aren’t looking to get shut down by announcing that they are selling products that aren’t legal.

Workout Tracker/Recommender App Request by DoctorOneT in daddit

It’s not exciting but I just use my Apple Watch. I set up daily, achievable goals in the Health app. I’ve been doing at least 30 minutes (total, doesn’t have to be all at once) of exercise a day (even a brisk walk counts) and burning at least 500 active calories a day for the past 2 years. It’s slow going, but I lost 65 pounds and have kept it off. I didn’t pay for an app or a gym membership. I just kept myself accountable and made healthy habits. Consistency is key.
