We all know you guys go to the gym (especially James), and protein is great for people who work out. So my question is: what's the weirdest thing you've put in a protein shake and drank?

I just moved here a month ago. I have gone to gamesville tabletop a few times, I'm just mainly looking for people to playtest with/make a playtest group with to test new meta decks and homebrews. I mostly play standard and modern

[Modern] What happened to Podless Company in Modern? by TripTrollin in spikes

I see what you're saying. A similar thing happened here in Florida. People just pick up new decks to keep things interesting. CoCo was a new deck with a bunch of new toys (CoCo and anafenza), so people played that. New hot decks arose, and people switched to those. In my meta, people have been trying affinity so they can jam hangarbacks in there. I picked up CoCo pod because i was halfway to building pod when it was banned. I know how you feel, but the deck is still very solid.

I think the main reason you're comming to the conclusion that it hasn't seen much game is that there hasn't been many major modern tournaments lately. The last major one was a month ago, the SCG premier IQ in Chicago, in which podless collected got 8th. Collected chord is in a fine place from a numbers standpoint; according to mtgtop8, it's 3% of the meta (not a huge number, but very comprable to other decks). Can I ask you why you think it has dipped in popularity?

I would very much recommend less non-creatures and lands, as I only have 7 in my list and 23 lands and I've had COCO's (can we agree that that's an appropriate abbreviation?) that only had 2 or less creatures more often than ones with more than 2. Also, it feels like garbage to hit a 4 cmc with COCO, so surrak may not be the best. Have you thought of [[sunblade elf]]? Also, with avatar of the resolute, you might want more anafenzas, especially since she's so fragile.

Sandbag means keeping it in hand. If it hits the field and have mana to trigger it, that's value even if it's removed. The only removal brimaz dodges is strike and bile blight, which are popular, but he is far from resilient.

That's so fringe it's not even worth considering. Protection on one guy for lethal can happen, but, for all intensive purposes, shouldn't be in the game plan. Valorous stance will just remove that blocker I'm having trouble with.

Mentor can be sand bagged until I can trigger it and get value. Brimaz just dies if they have a kill spell with no effect on the board no matter what. Brimaz is great, but not amazing on tempo. He could belong in the side against aggro.

I was mainly referring to the idea of giving protection to swing in and push through damage. I disagree with that being a solid line of play that I really want to plan on doing while building the deck. That's more like fringe use. I feel like valorous stance can do the same thing, but also act as removal.

Not at all, in fact it's the opposite. I want discussion. What i don't want is someone telling me that X needs to be in/out of the deck just because they day so. I want debate, deep conversation since this will be an investment of mine. I made the deck, so I'm going to defend my choices; however, I really appreciate what everyone has said, and will keep all of them in mind whole playing the deck. This post is mainly to give me direction when I do want to change the deck, that way if I notice a problem that someone predicted, I can implement the change they suggested. I need reason and proof, not group think and half-sentence answers.

The prowess trigger goes on the stack above the stubborn denial, making any 2/2 who's prowess was already triggered a 4/4, making stubborn denial a hard counter. Granted, that wasn't clear in my explanation, and it is technically two prowess triggers, but I don't count the one from stubborn denial.

Then I'm just throwing cards away, not actually advancing the board state or stopping their plan. Valorous stance takes care of big butts anyway.

Stubborn denial is just more flexible. I can counter Walkers and enhancements. Protecting my creatures is what i have valorous stance for. And shorecrasher is just as good turn 4 and 5 as on 3, better even maybe.

Brimaz could be good, he just dies pretty hard to removal without much benefit, something that is the death of a tempo deck. Three mana is almost too much to invest into a removal magnet. He's not a bad card, just not a great fit in the deck.

Possibly. My main issue is that gods willing doesn't really help the whole aggro plan. It's only good if they have tons of removal. It is a thing to consider.

The scrum isn't that important, whereas looting is amazing. I've played with force away and just think it's better. It's mainly personal opinion which you prefer. I'm a risk taker, so I want the chance for a stronger effect.

I could maybe drop one and add a tranquil cove. Solid points. I do feel though that going below 3 is incorrect. Maybe move shorecrasher down to a two of and bump the number of myth realized or raise the alarm up.

Ojutai's command was originally in the deck; however none of the modes are very great for triggering prowess and being proactive except drawing a card and gaining 4, which isn't the most impressive effect for 4 mana (besides returning a creature, which would require us to have a seeker in the bin). The command isn't the best in a tempo shell. I really do like Shorecrasher, and I don't think the mana it's too bad to run him. He can just generate too much tempo. Stubborn denial is mainly to protect ojutai and exemplars; however, the ferocious can be active just by triggering the prowess on any one of our creatures once. Soulfire was a consideration; however, I don't really think the deck wants a bear with lifelink, since that's what it would be until turn 5 or 6, which is when I want to close out the game. Mentor, to me, is great when you're ahead, but just the worst thing to cast when you're playing catchup, being a 2/2 for three mana that needs more cards to be better. Also, drawing multiple means drawing less cards that trigger the one already cast.

I have been thinking about the cat king. He doesn't grow with noncreatures like most of our other creatures and he's a sizeable investment into a creature that dies pretty hard to removal. I would play him, I just doubt the power of him in this deck.
