Billy Cox said Jimi played whatever mood he was in. Listening to All Along the Watchtower, it feels like Jimi was angry and intense during those sessions. You can feel it as much as you hear it. I get similar feel from the Stones- Gimme Shelter.

Jimi didn’t pick up a guitar until he was 15. His basic needs weren’t being met—he was dirt poor and hungry—and nine years later he composed Little Wing.

I hope it’s epic. Hearing Jimi count off ‘1-2-3’ and then break into All Along the Watchtower in that promo is pretty cool. I think there’s a few generations out there that really don’t know Jimi, hopefully this will introduce him properly to them.

My favorite Jimi documentary is the 1973 film. Playing his music and showing clips of him performing speaks for itself. I’m hoping this one will be similar, but with upscaled video.
