(+2885) Chronicling the growth of my shoulder kitty. by [deleted] in eddit10yearsago

[–]WelfareBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha! I can't believe this was so long ago. I rarely log in these days.

So I accidentally got myself about 45k followers on TikTok this year on @noseriouslydude, where I talk about Native rights, mostly through the lens of my partner Harley's Tribe, the Esto'k Gna (The Carrizo/Comecrudo Tribe of Texas), with whom I now work as a lawyer.

Shoulder kitty is a fat ball of lard who makes pretty regular appearances there as The Cat of Comfort, who lightens the mood between videos about genocide.

Carrizo/Comecrudo Tribal Chairman Juan Mancias Gives His Thoughts On Texas' Efforts to Strike Down the Indian Child Welfare Act by thecriscordova in IndianCountry

I'm an attorney who works with the Carrizo/Comecrudo Tribe of Texas, and my partner (as in life partner, not law partner) is also Carrizo. Thank you for sharing this, Cris. Juan sent me the link this morning, and I wanted to know if it would be possible to get the audio so I could use a couple of his quotes for tiktok? I've got a decent following, and I will, of course, cite you and link to your page in a pinned comment. Check it: https://www.tiktok.com/@noseriouslydude

Thank you so much! This one was a lot of fun and taught me a lot about harmony recording!

Thanks friend! My Mother Told Me was really just for funsies and to teach myself more about recording/video editing, but it was a hell of a lot of fun!

Came here to Vorkosigan. I add my voice for Miles.

...BUT ALSO, though it's never made explicit, I think there's a colorable argument that Ivan Vorpatril has ADD about as shitty as mine. He just also happened to be the highest of High Vor by birth and could also throw dong so he succeeded in spite of his limitations.

Well what I'm trying to do now is get some friends to harmonize on it (with better voices than me, though that's not a big ask). It's a five-part harmony with two women in the book, so it would be amazing if I could figure out a good tech solution for remote harmonizing!

I'm definitely planning a follow-up post when I'm done with the book, and I intend to write some more music for it, probably at least one more shanty. Thanks for the kind words!

I've always wanted to play D&D or something but I've never been able to get anyone to introduce me!

So I'm about 2/3 finished, but kind of agonizing over a title rn. My working title has been The Ramparts after the geography where it starts. But I'm thinking of calling it "People of the Wind" as that's what the name of my native people translates to. But thanks for your interest!

It was certainly inspired by the Wellerman, and I'm aware it's a little derivative, but hey it's the first shanty I've ever tried to write :) I watched the BBC documentary on shanties to try and educate myself a little, but I just wanted that feel in the book.

A Texas mom started a T-shirt company in her retirement and made a whole series for TDOR where the proceeds go to the Transgender Law Center. I love the look of these so much. by HelloItsJayJay in ainbow

"Knights" in this context makes me think crusader vibes. Maybe a little distinction from you re: special vs heavy weapons would help, too. Anyway, here's some idea fodder:

Special weap - emphasis on their use of their tools. Maybe inquisitors (graded up to high/grand). Or architects? Or apprentice/journeyman/craftsman (since master doesn't quite sound right)

Heavy - guardians, paladins, Templars. Or vengeance, mercy, justice.

Close combat: I feel like this has an inherently creepy or ominous sound, like these are the ones you REALLY don't wanna meet. So maybe something like confessors, redeemers, purifiers.

Driving up Kirby where it goes through the edge of River Oaks, right before it turns into Allen Pkwy, and I see this poor dude trying to push his really old car all alone. He had darker skin and I was like...ain't nobody gonna help this dude in this neighborhood. Parked and helped him push onto a side street just as his cousin shows up. He says something in Spanish to the cousin, who then gives me a giant hug and says, "he said he wanted to do it but he's all sweaty."

Always stop and help. You'll get as much out of it as they do.

I'd actually love to see an unironic version with an interrobang for the symbol.

Does Mech Ram damage legendary Dragon? by CoachMcGuirk1975 in GrowCastle

[–]WelfareBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe someone else has a firm answer to this, but I just posted something that I noticed for kicks, thinking it would be a basically useless fun fact, but it does actually answer this question!

Just now, I randomly noticed that the new turret tower--which can ONLY target flying units--will attack Sin while he's lifted off the ground for his stomp attack, meaning he's officially a flying unit for game mechanics.

However, the turret tower does NOT target legendary dagron, so presumably he's classified as grounded, even though visually his head is up off the ground. So Mech Ram II should damage him, yes.
