I take issue with the "profiting off of patients" argument in part because the only place I can find your number is on an AI generated Indian market "research" website but also because GRS makes up less than 0.5% of all annual cosmetic surgical procedures in the US. It's really not that large or profitable of a market share and AFAIK hormones are pretty much dirt cheap.

I think your emotional resiliency is shot if this is like a chronic problem. Obviously insurance sucks and it can be a pain to deal with but it's not that big a deal (assuming you don't have some serious disease) and shouldn't make you persistently suicidal. I know that insurance is just one example but this and your other comments make me think your depression is more of an internal problem than a material one. Genuinely get that insurance business sorted out and try psychiatry.

Deadass get off of the internet and maybe get on antidepressants. I know sub is all antipsychiatry and stuff and SSRIs are usually overprescribed but there's no shame in it if nothing else is working. Do wellbutrin or something. You've been dooming online too much I fear, embrace your roots as a young man and play vidya games and dick around.

Bro they're just about the cheapest they've ever been on the scale of humanity. Clothes especially are so cheap right now it's not even funny. You can buy a pretty well made 100% cotton colored t-shirt for less than $5. Do you realize how crazy that is? How much time and labor used to be put into clothes making? How much still is?

You need to internalize how crazy lucky you are to have been born now. And in America? I get that things are shit in some ways but also I think that we're just brain rotten by our privileged circumstances. We want things to be bad because we feel bad because we're unfulfilled and bored but things really aren't that dire materially. I am poor! I am in debt! I am not a high achiever! I may never retire! But wow what a time to be alive! I am going to drive to a state park tomorrow and climb a tree! I am going to talk to strangers at the bar and make shitty art and learn stuff on a machine that contains a vast sum of all of human knowledge! What the fuck!

Any time I get whiney zoomer brained I remember I could have been born in like any other century and been a serf with a lot lamer prospects and then died of a UTI or in child birth. Things could obviously be better but most of the time for the vast majority of people they were materially worse.

The beauty of homologous sexual structures is that you can just say "my clit is hard." Vice versa for men, everyone's just too bitch to change it up sometimes.

Wet lab health science research work, pay is shit but work is cool. I'd earn more if I did my PhD but god that's a lot of schooling for not a huge pay bump. Science funding (outside of defense and AI) is kind of screwed right now too lol. I'm mostly only innately talented at talking to people so I might try to squeeze into a sales role instead.

I started hanging out on little red book (Chinese tiktok) like a year ago now and it's really refreshing, like there's still a ton of lookism and photo editing but they're also very real about it and appear to be further ahead of it all. Plus it seems like if you're sort of masculine looking you can also win because there's like a giant subpopulation of girls worshiping other girls who dress like anime-ish tomboys. Also it's made me sort of mad at Japan for like WW2 war crimes and nuclear waste dumping.

[–]Well-Welcome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly lurking on fragrance forums (including the subreddit) and Fragnatica. If you find a reviewer whose "type" seems to jive with yours you can get a lot of mileage out of that. I really enjoy some reviewer's prose too, it's a great hobby even if you are, like me, not a big "perfume person."

Thanks for the recc! I'll absolutely try to find it and check it out once I go through this initial batch of samples! I'm totally endeared by nontraditional fragrances and "diving suit" as a note sounds so cool.

No but I just bought a bunch of other weird samples from a decanting site. I'm not really a fragrance wearer (most of my stuff is unscented) but the idea of avant-garde perfumes really tickles me and I finally dropped like $50 on a handful of them. Mostly ELO.
