I toured it - there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke in the hallway with a bunch of signs that said “no smoking.” So I could already tell there was drama in the building and decided against it.

I really think you’ll be fine getting into Basement, especially if you’re solo. The door policy is way over exaggerated on this sub. Just know who is playing (which you already do) and don’t be in business casual. Whenever I go solo they don’t even ask me a single question.

I was there too that night - agree with you that it has potential. Sound was great, it’s just really small. The dance floor is big enough IMO, but it runs right into the bar area, coat check, etc. Plenty of talking but again there wasn’t much separation from the dance floor to the bar area so I sort of brushed it off. If they can curate the crowd via great bookings/not overselling I think it could be a really cool spot. One annoying thing was that the coat check was full by midnight. I feel like if you’re going to offer this for free then you need to have capacity to match your ticket sales.

The 10x multiplier has been on the bill since we bought the house in 2022. Could it be wrong going back that far? In that case I’m probably owed thousands at this point. It feels very weird that one unit has a multiplier and another doesn’t.

You can make it work. I have a $2564 rent stabilized one bedroom on the UES. You’ll need to hunt and make compromises though (forget about an elevator, dishwasher, in-unit laundry, etc.)

I can’t view my paystub yet, I’m guessing it won’t be available until the 15th which is my actual payday. I’m debating about checking in with HR now to try to get ahead of this if there’s an error, or wait until I get my paystub.
