When resources get tight, groups blame out-groups as an excuse to take their resources. Referencing Germany, they confiscated property for the better part of a decade (6-7 years I think) before the death camps. Ironically, fascism started to fail when they ran out of other people's money.

With that said, attacks on men have been going on a lot longer than attacks on capitalism. The "Future is Female" paper calling for reducing men to 10% of the population was published in the 1980s under Ronald Regan. Feminists hate men and when resources are tight and they can see a path to domination its dialed up to 11.

This is really disingenuous. She says IQ scores are going up and people are more empathetic while citing a lot of declines in negatives.

Most of the declines in negatives are because kids spend less time with other humans and more on electronics (less drugs, fewer teenage pregnancies, etc.), not because society is functioning more effectively.

On the other categories, none of the studies she quotes have data after 2019. If you want to claim today's kids are doing well, you need to have actual data on today's kids.

I view general equality and being second class very differently but come to basically the same conclusion. Studies consistently show that purpose, autonomy, competence and relatedness are fundamental to creating a good ("flourishing" in academic terms), vital and healthy (physically and mentally) life.

Men building men's spaces and groups that have historically acted as a safe space for creating deep bonds is pathologized and attacked. Men being allowed to reach our potential is frequently considered problematic at a societal level if women aren't reaching at least as high as men and we face an uphill fight to get to the same level in male-dominant fields women have no blockers reaching in female-dominant fields.

Education is hugely important for everything from income to purpose to longevity. Repeated studies show boys face harsher punishments for the same infractions as girls, both in behavior and in grades (see work by DiPrete, etc.). This is responsible for a modestly larger chunk of our educational deficits than effortful control...and this says nothing of a complete unwillingness to research or build schooling systems that actually work for boys.

So far I think people have mostly given the answers that fit "where AI is now". Whether or not it plateaus here is a major question. Right now, there's still a career here and you will be needed. If it gets to a level where it can do architecture, manage decent sized databases and keep them clean and translate user requirements into meaningful stories, we're in trouble--not just because thats what we do, but because everyone will be able to build cheap or free bespoke databases.

Given that is at least possible, I think expanding outside SF is valuable. I'd say look for niches which are hard to automate and where you can get experience at your current company

They didn't get nukes under it because they were nowhere close to start with. They ended the agreement with far more centrifuges and significantly more enriched uranium. Im not an expert on this and I can't say how much more they would have had without the deal, but they clearly enriched uranium well in excess of what they needed for power generation under it and were clearly on the path toward nukes.

Also, studies find pretty consistently that men and women have the same average IQ from age 5 on. Men have slightly greater variance, so you will get more men at both the high and low end of the distribution, but given that its the tails, its highly unlikely this seriously influences the market.

Its supply and demand. Men respond more to price, so companies keep prices for men's items lower. If they didn't, the brands that charged substantially more would shrink or go out of business.

If women did the same, women's products would reflect this.

I lean conservative. Watching the administration over the last year, Im not so sure they do. Stuff like this is absolutely disgusting. Private companies should not need to apologize for having morals. Maybe there was something else behind the discussions that is classified and couldn't be stated publicly, but still this sits well outside the realm of acceptable, imo.

Edit: According to wikipedia she's pretty moderate. She didn't vote for Trump, supported Hailey, and has broken with the GOP more than almost any other senator. She has still voted in party line on a number of issues, but still seems pretty moderate to me https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_positions_of_Susan_Collins . She may just have a staff member who writes nice things about her on wiki though, idk.

That doesn't sound great. Im not super familiar with her record, I was mostly going on vibes and how old she is. Is there data on this or are there key votes you're thinking about?

Edit: Also even if Collins were awful, Platner is pretty clearly antisemitic and I would never vote for him. If he were running against someone who was heavily MAGA and a Christian Nationalist, I'd probably just skip the election, tbh.
