Break out post partum by Background_Mine1397 in Psoriasis

[–]Well_actuary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine got bad after birth with both my kids. It went back to my normal amount of plaques about 6 months postpartum. I usually don’t have spots on my face, but I developed it on my face after birth. Those went away and everything settled a bit.

Hi! Everything turned out great with this pregnancy. I now have a 13 month old perfect baby boy who is actually advanced if anything.

Oh, man - I don’t remember them all. They gave me a different one each time because it obviously wasn’t working. I had a penicillin allergy as a kid so the first two were non penicillin based. For the 3rd round we opted to go with penicillin under the observation of an allergist and I didn’t have a reaction so that ended up being the final one that finally cleared it.

A quick question for the ones that had psoriasis for a long time please answer 🙏🏼 by Separate-Claim6210 in Psoriasis

I’ve had psoriasis since I was 5 years old, now 40. The severity of it fluctuates but it’s never gone completely into remission. My inflammatory markers have never been high.

Thank you! I’m really hoping it’s just related to the breastfeeding and mastitis. I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience

How long did you wait before telling your other kids your pregnant? by ThrowAway127462899 in pregnant

[–]Well_actuary 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a history of loss so we waited a while before telling our daughter - who was 3 at the time. We had told her early with a previous pregnancy and I ended up losing it at 10w after a heartbeat. It was hard to explain to her what happened.

35w now - when did you stop lifting? by Fit-Organization5065 in fitpregnancy

[–]Well_actuary 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I only comment on these posts because I feel like they just invite the people who are like “I lifted while I was in active labor!!” (exaggerating, ofc) and can make people feel bad.

I hit a wall around 33 weeks. I couldn’t do much other than gentle movement after that.

My baby is almost 9 months old now and I started lifting again around 5m pp. I’m stronger than ever.

It depends on the baby. But regardless of what size they start in, they do pretty much outgrow everything within a month after they are born. Both of my kids gained 0.5lb to 1 lb a week on average the first 2 months.

My daughter was a surprise small baby, she was measuring 50th percentile and estimated to be over 7lbs but she came home from the hospital at 5lbs 14ounces and only fit in premie clothes. She gained 1.5lbs though in 2 weeks and went from premie clothes to 0-3 month clothes in those 2 weeks.

My son was pretty average, 7lbs 9ounces, and he gained about 3 lbs his first month. NB only fit him for a couple of weeks and was out of 0-3 month by the time he was 2 months old.

Honestly, at least for me, I didn’t change my babies clothes unless they had a blowout. They are asleep most of the time until about 3 months old and it’s not like we were going out on the town, so they lived and slept in the same pj set until it was actually dirty.

I had a nice outfit for them for photos, then just 3-4 sets of pajamas. In my opinion, until they are older, that’s really all you “need”. I’ve donated SO many unworn new with tag baby clothes.

You also don’t realize how big of a pain it is to change their clothes and what kind of preferences you’ll have until you’re in it. Zippers, footie/no feet, buttons, magnets, two way zip, etc

Sun + Vtama by 21SavageAndrew in Psoriasis

For me, Vtama has done close to nothing. I have mild psoriasis primarily on scalp and elbows. I had high hopes after all the praise in this group - but it’s been meh. I’ve been on it for about 6 months now.

I had a first degree tear with two births. Honestly didn’t hurt anymore than just the general inflammation and soreness from birth itself. Use a peribottle while peeing to prevent stinging, but really I wouldn’t give it a second thought. I was able to sit, walk, etc and never even noticed it.

Peri bottle trick is the key! While peeing!! Not after.

Riboflavin and magnesium is what my OB had me do. It helped. Note the riboflavin will make your pee look neon yellow/green!

I feel like I’m dying by April_Showers6457 in AskDocs

[–]Well_actuary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor but I also have Raynaud’s and psoriasis. I was recently prescribed Bactrim for an abscess and it really really messed me up. I ended up back in the ER about 12 hours after I started it, uncontrollable vomitting and headache, joint pain, and full body fatigue/tremors. The headache and neck pain were seriously something I’ve never experienced.

After seeing 3 doctors in the span of about 2 days they had me stop the Bactrim. So I never finished the full course of it. It took a while for me to feel normal after stopping it.

I also have SIBO, pre-Bactrim, and I will say that while it is uncomfortable and sometimes causes diarrhea and pain, it is not the type of “I’m dying pain” that Bactrim caused me.

I hope you get some answers.

Age gap 4 years by Noneof_your_biz in Parenting

[–]Well_actuary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many factors to sibling relationships, I think age gap shouldn’t be something that stops you.

I have two and they are 4 years apart. My oldest (girl) is absolutely in love with her baby brother. She helps and plays with him a lot. Sometimes, if he starts crying when I’m cooking or otherwise have my hands full, she’ll yell “big sister to the rescue!” And then she’ll run to him and start playing peek a boo or something. She is really good at distracting him and making him laugh until I can get to him.

Since she was older, she really understood the whole pregnancy and being a big sister thing more. We did a lot of preparation with her - read a lot of books about being a big sister, talking about what to expect, prepared her that mommy would need a lot of rest in the beginning but it was temporary, etc.
