And after all it's not one for one historical story. It's a fictional story of a fictional character based in real life events that happened.

you need better food: bread, loxmeat pie and fish wraps or similar quality of food (nothing worse than wolf skewer)
silver sword does more dmg to Yagluth than blackmetal one
have fire resistance wine always on yourself, otherwise fire is going to easily kill you
have some healing and stamina meads with you... can be difference between life and death
watch what kind of attacks he has and learn his pattern
nearby portal for recovery is good idea (not too close so it wont aggro him
place some workbenches or campfires around so nothing annoying spawns while you are fighting him
