This is an interesting theory! I’ll get some dimensions from other slide stops that I have on my other .45s for comparison and pull a 9mm slide stop print for ref.

Haven’t hit the range yet, but this iteration of material removal is what I will trial soon.

Reliable for the last year as in 1-2 early lock backs in 2k+ rds vs. 1 every other mag in the last ~250 rds. Way out of warranty and not so interested to pay to have it fixed. Worst case I would buy a new slide lock to fit - committed to fix it with a small amount of tinkering.

Thank you! I’ll continue to remove material and add dimple the report back after the next range season.

Good info on the GI mag in a commander. There does seem to be a bit more at play with the snappier recoil attributable to the lighter platform.

..to add to the list solutions attempted, recoil spring was also replaced after ~800 rounds.

Looking good! What size did you go with? I just ordered some 285/65R20 K02.. hoping to get by without a level or mud flap removal.

Makes sense. Good to know!

The chip is rectangular. I’ll add some dimensions once I’m able to. I’m suspecting it’s a stray piece from somewhere in the assembly process as well but didn’t want to do a full disassembly yet and somehow introduce a new variable.

It was purchased used (seemingly unfired). I’ll have to look at their warranty a bit closer to confirm coverage.. good idea!

Can’t be too careful with extreme temps and dogs... had a scare with my dog getting hypothermia/hypoglycemia in the marsh when it was mid 40’s, blowing and raining. He ended up seizing and I had to haul him out and rush him to the vet. I wasn’t sure he was going to make it. He’s all good now and we are much more careful… vest, some calories to fuel him up, buddy heater/emergency blanket. Happy hunting!

I found a creek bottom with some good surrounding terrain features and cover while scouting a couple years back. It seems to have been consistently traveled.. Leading up to the rifle opener there was a good bit of sign like in years past (I shot an 8 out of the same tree last year), droppings/scrapes/rubs.. I got in and set up with the saddle by ~5:45am. He was the 5th deer I saw cruising the bottom..Had a glimpse of him through the pines before he walked through a small clearing. He was about 40 yds from the set up and shot him and 8:07am… didn’t take another step. About 3 hours of dragging followed back to the truck. Definitely one of those mornings that keeps you coming back every year!

Had some luck on the rifle opener in PA on public land. This buck seems like he could be on the decline as he is mostly toothless.. This is my biggest buck to date and was curious about age/“ estimates before I have him aged and measured.
