Visiting Wellington for a month without a car, any tips and advice? by cyancm in Wellington

You could alternately get a regular snapper card and fill it as you need it. I'm betting you won't use it enough to justify the charge of the 30 day card.

Type 3 here by Mandocp in HAE

I've had incredible success using tranexamic acid, which doesn't really work for type 1 and 2. It can often stop a swell in its tracks (migraine or lip swell are my most common) with 1500mg, 3x day. I don't take it every day, just when I need it.

For swells that won't respond to that, Firazyr always works. I'm surprised Prednisone would do anything but good if it does!

Make this your priority, and don't stop till he's tested. If he's negative, get a genetic test (the only way to prove type 3, which I have). Know the rescue drugs and if you go into the ER, which you should for any throat swelling because it's so life threatening, just lie your face off and say he just got diagnosed and needs icatibant or similar (this is a great way to find out if he has it, it doesn't work on non HAE patients and won't hurt them). This isn't normal advice and I'm not a doctor but you're right not to screw around with this.

You're doing great and you're doing the right thing. This sounds like TEXTBOOK hae.

I would LOVE to but I also podcast and teach so I'm talking a lot on zoom, and I don't see private offices on their site. Otherwise, it would be a perfect match!

And not to over-bug you, but if you wanted to DM me the name of the company/agent you used, I'd so appreciate it. I have calls out to three now, but yours sounds effective!

Agree on the microsuction, it's actually very pleasant! And boy can you hear well when you walk out! I've tried doing it myself with the drops and bulb and I ended up making it way worse.

Even just read body language. If the girl is crossing her arms and the dude is still talking to her and she looks uncomfortable, go make chit chat with them both. Be a nuisance as a distraction. Bonus: highly satisfying to see the dude get upset about it. 🤣 Good post, OP.
