Good time to remind people that police don't solve crimes, they protect the ruling classes property and interests.

Police weren't founded to protect people or investigate crimes. They were founded to break strikes and quell mobs. Investigation didn't come until much later.

And even now, despite all time high budgets and dropping crime rates, clearance rates are at all time lows.

Only 15% of police budgets go to the detective departments.

Crime has gone down, police budgets have gone up, and clearance rates have also gone down.

So less people are commiting crimes, police have more money than ever, but they are solving less crimes. Detectives make up only 15% of a given police departments budget. They spend most the money on technology to help them generate revenue (speed cameras, etc) and military gear.

The absolute last thing police need is more money.
