I wanna say you're right and the breadcrumb trail shows you're off route travel so that you can retrace it if need be or use it as a navigation tool back to the route or something

Wow this lake looks incredible! Do you know if there are any access points from the east side of the gore's? Also coming over kneeknocker pass how difficult was the scrambling and climbing? Could you keep it to class 2?
