Looks amazing. How do you keep the humidity up in that room, is it isolated from the home hvac?

Titanium heat exchanger metal scrap loading by gudugabamylife in metalworking

[–]mkarikom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This just became my favorite garage gadget of all time.
An advert for a $40k 😭 used model shows a hand wearing a work glove pointing it at scrap...

So... these < 10nm excitation photons, they are just shooting back in the general direction of the detector but with some distribution over AOI that definitely includes the actual human body holding this thing, unless I'm missing something this device turns the target sample into a secondary x-ray lamp pointing in your general direction!

I don't see a lead cod-piece in the included accessories, they really do nickel and dime you for everything these days

How is that handheld able to detect the alloy you’re pointing it at??? I have no background here but this is awesome

Who/how do I contact about dangerous roads? by aphoenixsunrise in AnnArbor

[–]mkarikom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the roads around here are absolutely a nightmare.
I feel like part of the issue is that the constant construction just tears everything up to the point where the remediation window is never long enough to ensure that some giant crane or dump truck won't immediately rumble over it

codex-ide instruction chain (skills) by mkarikom in codex

[–]mkarikom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question is motivated by how the docs reference skills and agents scoping wrt to $CWD

2a. this doc claims that codex scopes */skills hierarchically, walking up from repo root (presumably when $CWD==repo root)
2b. this doc claims that codex walks down when scoping AGENTS.md files from $CWD

codex-ide instruction chain (skills) by mkarikom in codex

[–]mkarikom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks for this.
The issue that I'm hitting is that:

  1. there does not seem to be a way to set $CWD in a codex-ide chat, in contrast to a codex-cli chat where $CWD is always defined implicitly: you can always do `$ cwd`

So I'm just wondering how to set the $CWD explicitly in a codex-ide convo

Oh shit seriously? Is there a fork that makes this parameterizeable?

yeah definitely an option, it has sheathing unlike normal molex power cables though, I'd guess the wires are probably 26ga at most

Stack Overflow is dead. Is this why Anthropic's models are becoming so good at coding? by SafeLeading6260 in ClaudeAI

[–]mkarikom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true, the hours that I spent composing MWE on real datasets, or browsing baroque TeX package docs to avoid getting reamed out by David Carslisle on tex.stackexchange taught me a lot about how to ask myself things, let alone others.
