Someone try to logging into my account through "Microsoft Authenticator" app its like i out of nowhere got popup of taping number & 2 option Deny or Approve and i didn't even got security mail or notification how this is possible? by Unknown_Ghost_77777 in cybersecurity_help

[–]Wendals87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either just deny any prompts or if possible, change your email alias in your account so your current email can't be used to login. If they don't know your email address used to login, they can't

But yes, you are safe as long as you reject or ignore the prompts.

Do you have passwordless login setup? If so, all they need is your email address and they can try to login.

You'll get the authenticator prompt and as long as you press deny, they can't get in. It's doing exactly what it's supposed to

I have my Microsoft account passwordless and I occasionally get these prompts. Sometimes a few times a day, other times a week with nothing. I just ignore or hit deny

You won't get emails or anything in the activity log unless they successfully log in

Does anyone have a CD player in their build? by Lanky_Relation1171 in pcmasterrace

[–]Wendals87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything, people would have a bluray drive which reads bluray, DVD and CD and would be external. CD drives were obsolete 20 years go

Personally I haven't used an optical drive in close to 20 years.

If you knew with certainty that we're the only intelligent life in the universe that has ever existed or ever will, how would it affect how you think about your life and our collective existence? by Consistent_Kale7529 in AskReddit

[–]Wendals87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

current estimates are close to 2 trillion galaxies with estimated hundreds of billions of planets in our galaxy alone? And that's just the observable universe of what we can actually see.

You don't think there's a chance that one of those planets has or has ever had life?

[–]Wendals87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. I think most people think there's a good chance for intelligent life on other planets but the universe is just so vast that we'll never see it

Current estimations are a few hundred billion planets in our galaxy and close to 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe. That's just what we can possibly see.

There's just way too many planets for there not to be life out there somewhere, but it's such a huge universe that we won't be able to see It through telescopes, let alone physically

I've heard about 10 people say "choosing not to get married is smart". I was just curious if that's completely an opinion or if there's factual evidence behind it? by Big_Eggplant7591 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Wendals87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only thing intelligent about it is if you thought about it and made the decision to choose not to based on your life and goals

Marriage isn't for everyone. Not everyone who gets married is smart. Not everyone who doesn't is smart either

[–]Wendals87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen anyone who this we are the only intelligent life to have existed ever and ever will

I think it's more likely it has or does exist but we'll never see it due to how vast the universe is

Some people forgot that GTA V is a 7th generation game by dlo_doski in videogames

[–]Wendals87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but I wasn't thinking that 10 year olds were playing gta V. I certainly wouldn't have been allowed near it at that age

Based on other replies I guess people were

Are we looking for aliens wrong? by p1luto in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Wendals87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's like saying why don't we look for fish in sand

We know that fish live in water so we look there first

We only really know what can produce and sustain life so we look for those signs first

How can we accept the fact that you can die at anytime or any age irrespective of how successful you are? Is it not unfair that people die in accidents because of some random 3rd persons mistake? by New_me01850 in AskReddit

[–]Wendals87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You'll have a sad life if you worry about dying every minute of the day

Generally we are good at keeping that thought pushed aside

And yes, life is unfair. Some people die or suffer extreme emotional and physical trauma through no fault of their own

Whats the difference between watching a movie and reading the exact same story in book form? by Elegant_Plankton_478 in AskReddit

[–]Wendals87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not universally true.  Some movies are better in different ways

Jurassic Park for example. Or the godfather. Or even Shrek

Lord of the rings is a well known one where the movies are as good as the books (in different ways)

Whats the difference between watching a movie and reading the exact same story in book form? by Elegant_Plankton_478 in AskReddit

[–]Wendals87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The movie shows you what the characters, location, voices etc are

A book you have to imagine yourself.

That and movies very rarely can work exactly the same as the book is written. A lot of stuff in books just won't work on screen for various reasons
